How to jailbreak iOS6 beta 2 with Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2

Today, Apple released iOS6 beta 2 to developers. For those developers who wish to update their 3rd party apps and tweaks to be compatible with iOS6 once it is released publicly, this tutorial will walk you through jailbreaking iOS6 beta 2 with Redsn0w. Since Redsn0w has not yet been updated to support the new beta release, you will need to use Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2 which was released to perform a tethered jailbreak on beta 1 of iOS6. You will also need an iOS6 beta 1 firmware file since Redsn0w does not recognize the beta 2 firmware yet.

It should also be …

Jailbreak iOS6 beta 1 using Redsn0w 0.9.13dev1

Just days after the seeding of iOS6 beta 1 to Apple developers, the iPhone-Dev team has released Redsn0w 0.9.13dev1 to perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS6 beta 1 using GeoHot's limera1n exploit(A4 devices and lower only). However, this release is for developers only. First of all, you need a developer account in order to restore the iOS6 beta firmware anyway and secondly, this jailbreak will not install Cydia. It will, however, give you root access to the device via SSH or afc2.

The first time you run Redsn0w, you will need to specify your 6.0 beta 1 IPSW file. This …

iFunBox Mac download now available

iFunBox is a popular storage management tool for iDevices. The program gives you USB access to the devices filesystem and if you're jailbroken you will have root access. iFunBox is a great transfer client for if you need to manually install a Cydia package or you just want to copy theme files or some other larger file to your phone and not have to deal with the slow speeds of WiFi-based SSHing.

Best of all iFunBox is free. Also, last night, the developers gave us a little New Year's present with iFunBox for Mac. You can download the Mac

How to run Cydia in the background using native multitasking on iOS 4.x

One of the major drawbacks of Cydia is it's inability to run in the background. I like to be able to multitask when I am doing anything on my phone, including installing 3rd party applications. This tweak will allow you to background the Cydia process. Of course, this tweak doesn't come without it's setbacks. @saurik has stated many times that he has disabled backgrounding for specific reasons. Namely, it will eat up a lot of memory and it is possible that you could experience errors installing apps/tweaks/themes while running certain other processes.

Step 1: First navigate to the …

Redsn0w 0.9.7b3 tutorial untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak

First of all, this is the 'backup plan' beta release, which means it’s rough around the edges, and things can go sporadically or randomly wonky. Second of all, even if everything were smooth sailing, there’s still a process involved — unlike Comex’s upcoming hack, which will reportedly allow for easy, one-touch jailbreaking.

Some other important things you need to know before you even think about using this:

If you depend on the Ultrasn0w unlock, DO NOT jailbreak using this. It will remove your unlock. This beta release of redsn0w 0.9.7 disables Bluetooth functionality. This hack only works with Mac OS
