Redsn0w 0.9.11 to include A5 and A5X Downgrading capabilities

downgrade

When iOS 5.1.1 was released, @musclenerd tweeted that there was an SHSH downgrade method for A5+ devices that Apple knew about but had not patched in 5.1.1. Today, some great news was released by musclenerd, an upcoming Redsn0w release will include the ability to downgrade iPhone4S, iPad2 and iPad3 from 5.1.1 to 5.1 or 5.0.1 provided you had saved your SHSH blobs while Apple was still signing those firmwares.

Redsn0w 0.9.11 is still in beta, but it shouldn’t be long before we see a public release and A5+ users who were forced to, or “accidentally,” updated their devices …

Apple working on patching SAM unlock method

apple

Well, it has been a few days since the, now infamous, SAM Unlock method was released to the masses. As expected, Apple wasn’t going to let this loophole fly for long. According to a Twitter post made my @musclenerd a few minutes ago, it seems as though Apple has already begun closing this loophole. For now, some users are still having success, but over the next few hours(presumably), less and less people will be able to unlock with this method until eventually it will be completely closed. If you have not yet unlocked your phone with this method and …

ipad3

So, we heard a few hours ago that Stefan Esser (@i0n1c) Jailbroke the iPad 2 on 5.1, then @MuscleNerd Jailbroke the new iPad, now Stefan Esser has come out with a video demonstrating an untethered jailbreak on the new iPad .

Note: Stefan Esser covers the bottom corner of Cydia because it shows his UUID.

No ETA as to when this is going to be released to the public, but it’s definitely a huge step in the right direction.…

The New iPad has already been jailbroken

ipad3thumb

Less than 24 hours since the New iPad began rolling out, and already, jailbreak developer @MuscleNerd has jailbroken his. Yesterday, we showed you pictures indicating that i0n1c had discovered a 5.1 jailbreak exploit when he posted pictures of his jailbroken iPad2 running on 5.1. Now, MuscleNerd has released images of his jailbroken iPad3 running on the AT&T 4G network.

Below are the pictures from MuscleNerd’s iPad3 jailbreak. There is still a lot of work to do and because of that, there is no ETA on when this jailbreak will be released. At this point, we can’t help but …

Redsn0w 0.9.9b9d fixes old bootrom 3Gs issues

redsn0w

Shortly after the release of Redsn0w 0.9.9b9, MuscleNerd announced that the newest version of their jailbreak tool would cause issues for old-bootrom 3Gs users. To remedy that issue, they have now released Redsn0w 0.9.9b9d. If you don’t have an old-bootrom 3Gs you don’t have to worry about this new release. If you DO have an old-bootrom 3Gs and you used Redsn0w 0.9.9b9 to jailbreak, you will have to download and re-run this new version but you can do it right over the top of your current jailbreak so as not to lose anything.

Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 for iOS 5.0.1 compatibility available now

unlock

The other day, we reported that MuscleNerd had announced a new version of Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 which would fix compatibility issues with iOS 5.0.1. Yesterday, we told you that the iPhone-Dev team repo had gone down which is why this new version of Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 was not released on Monday as planned. Today, it seems that the infrastructure update has been completed and now Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 is available in Cydia. Once again, I must stress that this new version of Ultrasn0w DOES NOT add any new baseband compatibility. It only adds 5.0.1 support for basebands which are already unlockable:

iPhone-Dev Team website and repo down for infrastructure update

iphonedev

Today, @MuscleNerd announced that the iPhone-Dev Team blog and the Ultrasn0w repo are both down due to an infrastructure update. Unfortunately, this has also pushed back the release of Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 which will add unlock support for users on iOS 5.0.1 without using the Ultrasn0w fix that we posted a while back. Please stay tuned for more updates!

Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 adding 5.0.1 unlock support to be released later today

ultrasn0w

Just a bit ago, @MuscleNerd announced the released of Redsn0w 0.9.9b9 which adds 5.0.1 native compatibility as well as a bunch of new features. One footnote you may have missed is that later today(Monday) Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 will be released to add support for iOS 5.0.1. Until now you have had to use the Ultrasn0w 5.0.1 fix in order to unlock on that firmware, with this update of Ultrasn0w you will no longer need to do that.

To be clear, this does NOT add support for any new basebands, only compatibility with the 5.0.1 firmware for basebands which have already …

iPhone4S baseband bootrom dumped by MuscleNerd one step closer to 4S unlock

4sbasebandbootrom

A few days ago we reported that MuscleNerd had been making some steady progress working on a 4S unlock. Today he has posted a picture showing that he has successfully dumped the iPhone4S baseband bootrom taking him one step closer to the unlock. I’m thinking December/January is going to be a great time for the jailbreak community!

Upcoming Ultrasn0w Update to Unlock iPhone 4S on Baseband 1.0.11

ultrasn0w

Well the news just keeps coming. Earlier today MuscleNerd has announced that a new update for Ultrasn0w is underway which will allow users to unlock their iPhone 4S on baseband 1.0.11. It’s also possible that the unlock will work on baseband 1.0.13(5.0.1) as well. However, since the unlock requires a jailbreak and the exploit pod2g is using in his jailbreak has been patched, we can for sure say it will work on 1.0.11. Unfortunately, the unlock that has been announced is for the 4S only and will not work on the iPhone4. There has been no ETA so far as …

Save SHSH for 5.0.1 with TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 – MuscleNerd begins work on iOS5 downgrading

shsh

Today, @notcom has released TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 which adds tentative iOS 5.0.1 support. Using this new version of TinyUmbrella you can save your SHSH for 5.0.1. Even though you can save your SHSH, there is still no way to downgrade using your SHSH because of Apple’s blob monster.

Even though there is still no working solution for restoring 5.x on iPhone 4S I have released a 5.01.00 so you can at least save 5.0.1 SHSH. I have added tentative support for at least saving 5.0.1 SHSHs for iPhone 4S but as of now we are unable to use them …
