Here is a tutorial on how to perform an untethered 5.1.1 jailbreak on most devices supporting the 5.1.1 firmware besides the AppleTV using Absinthe 2.0.4. For those using yesterday’s TinyCFW release to downgrade iPad2 to 4.3.3 and are running into issues with the executable there is a fix you can try below. For me I got the error “ jvm could not start-the maximum heap size (-Xms) might be too large or a antivirus is blocking the execution.” Since i didn’t have a firewall or anti-virus running I knew that wasn’t the problem. How to fix error 3002 upgrading to iOS5 (Mac/Windows)

UPDATE: As I’m sure you can tell, the Apple servers are having some major issues right now because of the amount of traffic they are receiving. If you can’t upgrade or restore and you have tried the fix below, just keep trying, you will ge through eventually.

A few of our readers have been reporting receiving an unknown error(3002) when trying to update to iOS5. This appears to indicate that you are blocking Apple’s verification servers in your hosts file much like the 1015 errors we have seen in the past. There is a very simple fix for this.

Tethered iOS5 Jailbreak Using Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 Tutorial

The iPhone-Dev team has already released their tethered jailbreak for the iOS5 beta firmware. As we announced earlier, iOS5 is still susceptible to the limera1n exploit and therefore it was very easy for the dev-team to update their software to support the new firmware. Unfortunately, it appears that @i0n1cs untetthered exploit has been patched in iOS5 so it could be quite some time before we get an untethered jailbreak.

The Dev Team has now released an update for Pwnage Tool 4.3.2 and Ultrasn0w 1.2.2 The update includes @i0n1c‘s untether exploit in Pwnage Tool and Ultrasn0w fixes the searching issue after unlock with 4.3.2 that was previously only fixable by installing the ultrasn0w fixer.

PwnageTool 4.3.2 now includes the iOS 4.3.2 untether from @i0n1c.  (And look, the PwnageTool and iOS version numbers actually match!).
