Sn0wbreeze 2.9.5 and Absinthe 2.0.2 released for iPhone4 iOS 5.1.1 build 9B208

ipsw

Recently Apple released a new build for the iPhone4 iOS 5.1.1 firmware. Since the new build was released after the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreaking tools, none of them had been released with support for this build initially. The Sn0wbreeze 2.9.5 release also fixes an issue with Location Services for iPhone 3Gs users that are using the iPad baseband.

If you’re already jailbroken, you don’t need to worry about these new releases(unless of course you are one of the aforementioned 3Gs iPad baseband users). If you are an iPhone4 user and you have recently restored your device, chances are you are running …

Absinthe 2.0 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak has been released!

absinthe20

This morning at the Hack in the Box conference, the Chronic Dev Team unveiled the much anticipated iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak by way of their new tool, Absinthe 2.0. The new tool can perform on untethered jailbreak on just about any device that supports 5.1.1 except for the Apple TV.

Known as the “iOS Jailbreak Dream Team”, @p0sixninja, @pod2g, @planetbeing, @pimskeks released the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 on the final day of the week-long conference. Echoing Steve Jobs’ trademark WWDC encore of ‘… and one more thing’, the team announced the release of Absinthe 2.0 during the closing minutes …

Untethered 5.1.1 Jailbreak to be released in a few weeks

pod2g

Well, it turns out the poll on @pod2g‘s blog paid off as he has announced that the new jailbreak he has been working on will be released in the next few weeks instead of waiting for iOS6 to be released to see if the exploits are still available. There are some oddities in the compatibility of this upcoming jailbreak. Apparently the jailbreak will work on iOS 5.1.1 with most devices, however the iPod3G, iPhone3Gs and AppleTV 3 are currently excluded. However, old bootrom 3Gs users will be able to use this jailbreak, it is only the new bootrom …

AppleNBerry has been selling Loktar_Sun’s free SAM unlock method for $50

applenberry

Remember when we told you that there was a hardware method for unlocking iPhone4 on 5.1? Well it turns out that the Gevey Ultra for iPhone4 on 5.1 was actually reliant on the Loktar_Sun SAM unlock method. That’s right, AppleNBerry has been charging $50 for a piece of hardware that utilized the same exact unlock process that was released by Loktar_Sun for free.

Now usually at iPhoneBlogr, we are quick to recommend AppleNBerry as the official reseller for Gevey SIMs. However, this is just despicable on their part. Fortunately they have stated that they will be refunding anyone who …

TinyUmbrella 5.10.11 released to save your device’s BBTicket

tinyumbrella

@notcom announced today that he had released an update to TinyUmbrella, the SHSH saving tool used to downgrade various iDevices. The new release includes a feature that will save your BBTicket, a new form of security Apple implemented a while back in order to prevent people from downgrading. It is likely that once there is a method released for downgrading A5+ devices, that you will need your BBTicket in order to downgrade.

The new version, TinyUmbrella 5.10.11 is available now, the BBTicket saving is “silent” so you won’t actually see it being saved, but it will automatically …

Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 iOS 5.1 jailbreak for all non-A5 devices (Tethered)

redsn0w

As you know, any iDevice prior to the iPad2/iPhone4S is susceptible to the limera1n bootrom exploit. Because of this, no matter what new firmware Apple releases, these devices will ALWAYS have a tethered jailbreak available. Today @musclenerd has released Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 to perform a tethered jailbreak on these devices.

Simply download redsn0w, run the jailbreak section as you normally would and then after the jailbreak process has completed you can re-open redsn0w and go into “extras” and select “just boot” in order to boot your tethered device. Remember that this does not apply to the iPad2 and iPhone4S. If you …

FuriousMod iOS5 Fix by mcbaron15 Unlock iPhone4 with Gevey Ultra on 5.0.1

gevey

It has come to our attention that the FuriousMod repo is not currently working and also the official FuriousMod package that is available does not work on iOS5. For those with an iPhone4 on 5.0.1 who have a compatible baseband(anything but 04.11.08) you can do a manual installation of the Furious Mod 5.0.1 deb from a MacRumors users, mcbaron15, which will allow you to use a Gevey Ultra on the latest iPhone firmware.

The easiest way to install the deb would be to use iFile. Simply transfer the deb file to any …

Spire becomes first free and legal port of Siri to older iDevices

siri

Tonight, well known jailbreak developers @chpwn and @rpetrich have released Spire, the first free and legal port of Siri to older iDevices. Spire is downloaded directly from Apple in a legal manner unlike previous Siri ports. Before I go any further, this port will still require that you have access to an iPhone4S to obtain authorization for the Siri servers.

However, Spire is not a complete solution. Apple still requires authorization to use Siri, so information from an iPhone 4S is still required. To insert this information, Spire allows you to enter your own proxy server address. I’ve …

After you have jailbroken your device, simply follow the steps below to unlock your phone for use on unofficial carriers.

Stay away from H1Siri

siri

Ever since the initial release of the iPhone4S there have been dozens(if not hundreds) of people feverishly working on a port to other devices. So far, it has been to no avail. Apple has done a great job locking down the Siri servers to the point where it doesn’t look like a port will be possible unless it uses a different server than Apple’s. A few hackers have been able to port Siri to older devices and use their own iPhone4S keys to get it to authenticate, but even then, only one device using the same 4S key can access …

Siri port to iPhone4 and iPhone3Gs update

siri

For those who are following the Siri port progress, it has been a crazy 72 hours. We have seen everything from fake siri “releases” to people claiming they have a port but refuse to release it. One thing is for sure, progress is being made all the time. Over the past few days iBrandon and myself have been lucky enough to work along side the Iris Dev team while they continue to perfect the Siri port to other devices.

At this point, it appears that they have the port fully working besides being able to access the servers, which is …

iPhone4 Siri port now communicating with Apple servers (Video)

siri11

Those of us who have not upgraded to the iPhone4S continue to wait patiently(well most of us) for a port to other devices. Another step forward has been made in recent hours. The initial port of Siri to the iPhone4 that we reported was the UI only, meaning all of the Siri files were ported successfully but Siri lacked the ability to function because Apple servers check to make sure the request is being sent from a 4S.

Luckily for us, this security message has been bypassed by @stroughtonsmith and the iPhone4 Siri port can now communicate with Apple …
