Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 coming soon to fix 06.15.00 downgrade issues for some 3Gs users
Ever since we posted the 06.15.00 iPad baseband downgrade tutorial last week, we have received numerous reports from our readers that the baseband was just not downgrading. The process would go through normally and look like it was working, but in the end the baseband would remain on 06.15.00. Yesterday, @MuscleNerd announced that he has figured out why some 3Gs devices have been “refusing” the baseband downgrade. He says that he will be receiving a device to test it on this Thursday in order to address the issue which is apparently due to variations in the NOR …
How to fix crashing and “No Service” after downgrading 06.15.00 baseband
Several of our users have been reporting issues with the 06.15.00 downgrade method we posted early this morning. Some people have been having issues getting the downgrade to go through(still trying to figure out the cause of this), but others have been successful with the downgrade but have been experiencing crashing or “No Service” errors. For those people with crashes or “No Service” try going into Cydia>Manage>Packages and select MobileSubstrate, then go to modify then click “reinstall” on the next page click “Continue Queuing” and then go back to the packages page and find Ultrasn0w and …
Downgrade 06.15.00 Baseband to 05.13.04 with Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 (Video Tutorial)
This is a video tutorial that will walk you through downgrading your iPhone 3G/3Gs from the iPad baseband 06.15.00 to 05.13.04 which is another Ultrasn0w compatible baseband that will allow you to unlock and use your GPS capabilities. It is very important that if you have a 3Gs and it was manufactured on or after the 35th week of 2011 you SHOULD NOT install the iPad baseband. Doing so will permanently brick your cell radio. You can tell when your device was manufactured by looking at the 3rd, 4th and 5th digits of your phone’s serial. The 3rd …
MuscleNerd’s evolution of the iPhone baseband and unlocks discussion at HITB
As 3G/3Gs users patiently await the 06.15.00 basedband downgrade, a new video from this year’s Hack in the Box conference has been making it’s rounds on the internet. This is a discussion by @MuscleNerd on the evolution of the iPhone baseband and the subsequent unlocking tools that were developed by the iPhone-Dev team. It’s a long video, but it really gives you some great insight into what goes into unlocking the iPhone baseband and also why it is so difficult to create new unlocks for new basebands.

Current news at the moment is that banners have been spotted going up at the venue in San Francisco announcing iOS 6. It’s being labeled as “the world’s most advanced mobile operating system” and comes along with a new fingerprint-styled icon.
Take a look at the images snapped by viewers below:

Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 DEB Download for Manual Installation
With the recent release of Ultrasn0w 1.2.7, I just wanted to post a link to download the DEB file for our readers who do not have a WiFi connection on their phone to download it from Cydia. A reminder, Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 does not add support for any new basebands, it only adds support for basebands which were already compatible with Ultrasn0w on iOS 5.1.1.
Once you’ve downloaded the deb files, if you aren’t sure how to install them, be sure to check out our How to Install Ultrasn0w without WiFi tutorial.

Nuance announces biometric device unlocking with Dragon ID
Today, Nuance, the company behind the Dragon speech recognition software, announced a new biometric technology that will allow mobile device users to unlock their device with their voice. Now you might be wondering “what good is a passcode if you have to say it out loud?” Well, Dragon ID also uses your “voiceprint” to determine who you are. The technology is so accurate and secure that it is already used by banks and government institutions. Even Danny Ocean would have a hard time getting in.
With Dragon ID, your voice is your password. Simply set a password or …

Rocky Racoon iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Package from Cydia
Just this morning, the Chronic Dev Team released the Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1. For those of you who are already on a tethered 5.1.1 jailbreak, there is also a solution to untether your jailbreak so that you do not have to restore and jailbreak with Absinthe. If you have previously used Redsn0w to perform a tethered jailbreak on your device, simply search for and install the “Rocky Racoon” package in Cydia.
Rocky Racoon is the underlying untethered exploit that will be installed by popular jailbreak tools such as redsn0w and absinthe… if you are using 5.1…
iOS 5.1.1 update released to fix AirPlay and Network bugs
Today Apple released a minor incremental update to the iOS firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which fixes some bugs with networking and AirPlay as well as a few other things. As always, if you are waiting for the release of an untethered jailbreak, please do not update unless you have your SHSH blobs and are on an A4 device or lower. For those on A5+ devices on 5.1, you will want to wait until @pod2g has cleared the update before upgrading your own device since there is always the chance that they patched one or more …

Updated SAM 0.1.16-1 Unlock tutorial easier than ever
APRIL 27th 2012 - The SAM unlock has been patched. I attempted the unlock on two phones I unlocked just yesterday with no issues and today they will not activate. If you saved your unlock ticket, you are safe.
@sbingner has updated the SAM package to make the SAM unlock method even easier. We have had several reports of successful unlocks on our previous SAM unlock tutorial, but we also had an equal amount of people who could just not get it to work. Hopefully the updated version of SAM will help you finally get your device …
pod2g now has all 5.1 exploits and is working on bypassing ASLR
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the 5.1 jailbreak that many iDevice users are waiting for. The last time we updated the status of the jailbreak, @pod2g said that he and the Chronic-Dev team were working hard on the jailbreak but they didn’t have all the exploits needed in order to release a jailbreak. He also stated that even with all the exploits needed, they were still “weeks away” from being able to release anything.
pod2g released another update today that he now has all the exploits needed for the jailbreak. He is now …
