Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 released to fix iBooks DRM problem

The iPhone-Dev Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 tonight which fixes yet another anti-piracy measure built into the iBooks application. The fix is called "crazeles" that patches the jailbreak detection. As usual, you can simply run this new version of Redsn0w over the top of your current Redsn0w jailbreak(be sure to de-select "install Cydia") or you can install the Corona package in Cydia which uses the same fix.

Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 - Win
Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 - OSX

Redsn0w version b5 incorporates yet another fix for iBooks, this time involving DRM.  @planetbeing wrote a utility called “crazeles” that overcomes jailbreak detection …

A5 Untethered iPhone4S and iPad2 jailbreak makes it’s way out of the sandbox with Saurik’s help

Today, @planetbeing made his first Twitter post in nearly a year and a half. We were beginning to worry about the guy! The "dream team" has made more progress on the A5 jailbreak by getting out of the "sandbox." For those who don't know, the sandbox is a security mechanism that is used to separate running programs. Each sandboxed app only has limited permissions to specific files and directories in the filesystem. Typically they have "read-only" access to the application bundle and "read-write" access to the documents folder. All of the apps you download from the iTunes appstore are …

Vold Miracle SIM new SIM interposer to be used for unlocking iPhone4 on 04.11.08

It's no surprise now that updating to a factory iOS5 firmware will update your baseband to 04.11.08 which is not currently unlockable either by Ultrasn0w or by Gevey SIM. A new SIM interposer hack is being developed by a company called Vold. This new Vold Miracle SIM is said to be able to unlock the 04.11.08 baseband on iPhone4 using this new hardware method.

So far, the SIM has not been released to the public but many websites point at a possible end-of-December release.

Unfortunately, since this is new hardware, the prices are reminiscent of the Gevey SIM when it …

Pod2G releases new untethered 5.0 jailbreak video will work on 5.0.1 as well!

Today, @pod2g the famous hacker from the Chronic-Dev team has released a new YouTube video demonstrating his untethered iOS5 jailbreak. The other good news is that he has announced that this jailbreak can quickly be ported to work with 5.0.1 as well, so those who updated, either accidentally or not, are in luck!

There is still no ETA on a release of the iOS5 untethered jailbreak, but it is great to hear from pod2g after such a long silence after his initial announcement that he was working on the jailbreak.…

iFaith 1.4 released allowing iOS 5.0 downgrade and APTicket Insurance

Apple has been locking down jailbreaks more and more with each new release of iOS. One of their more recent attempts has been to revamp the SHSH system. As of 5.0, it became impossible to replay your SHSH key in order to downgrade your firmware once you have upgraded. Fortunately for users with A4 or lower devices, iFaith has not been rendered useless.

iFaith 1.4 was released tonight which adds support for all firmware up to 5.0.1. You can now dump the SHSH of whatever firmware you are currently on and use it to downgrade in the future. This means …

Save SHSH for 5.0.1 with TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 – MuscleNerd begins work on iOS5 downgrading

Today, @notcom has released TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 which adds tentative iOS 5.0.1 support. Using this new version of TinyUmbrella you can save your SHSH for 5.0.1. Even though you can save your SHSH, there is still no way to downgrade using your SHSH because of Apple's blob monster.

Even though there is still no working solution for restoring 5.x on iPhone 4S I have released a 5.01.00 so you can at least save 5.0.1 SHSH. I have added tentative support for at least saving 5.0.1 SHSHs for iPhone 4S but as of now we are unable to use them …

iOS 5.0.1 released to address battery drain issues – Jailbreakers SHOULD NOT update

Apple has just released iOS 5.0.1 to the public, bringing fixes for battery life issues introduced with iOS 5. The release also brings several other enhancements including multitasking gestures for the original iPad. Both @MuscleNerd and @pod2g warn to stay away from this update if you are planning on using the future untethered jailbreak. Besides fixing the battery drain issues, iOS 5.0.1 also patches the code signing exploit that Charlie Miller revealed last week which is the method pod2g plans to use on his untethered jailbreak. It's very important to remember that Apple has changed the way the …

Sn0wbreeze 2.8b9 and Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 released to add iOS beta 5.0.1 support

For developers who have updated to the iOS 5.0.1 firmware that was released yesterday and would like to jailbreak, MuscleNerd and the iPhone-Dev team have released Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 and ih8sn0w has released Sn0wbreeze 2.8b9 to add support for the new beta firmware.

Redsn0w users, the new update does natively detect the new 5.0.1 firmware but because the firmware is not yet public, you will have to specify the firmware the first time you run it, but from there Redsn0w will cache the necessary files and you shouldn't have to specify the firmware again.

For those who want to update to …

MuscleNerd successfully jailbreaks the iPad2 and iPhone 4S (Video)

iPhone 4S and iPad2 users alike will be happy to know that iPhone-Dev team member, @musclenerd, has successfully jailbroken A5 devices iPhone 4S and the iPad2. This jailbreak is still in it's very early stages and there is a lot of work left to be done so we are still probably a ways out before actually seeing a public jailbreak.

The Chronic-Dev team is supposedly working on their own iOS5 jailbreak so it will be interesting to see who finishes first. Surely only one of the two jailbreaks will be released at this point so as not to …

IntelliScreenX upcoming iOS5 notification center application review

Learn about every part of Intelliborn's upcoming IntelliScreenX.

Approximately a week ago, ModMyi reported that Intelliborn, famous for applications such as My3G, Tlert, Intelliscreen, and others, demoed their new upcoming Notification Center application IntelliScreenX. The video they provided gave us an inside look to what IntelliScreenX has to offer; and from what we've seen, it's for sure a full-fledged application. Although the video was informative to a great extent, there's nothing better than getting a component-by-component low down on an upcoming application with screenshots, explanations, and the whole shebang.

Courtesy of the Intelliborn team, we're privileged to be one of …

Working iBooks fix for jailbroken iOS5 with icon fix

*UPDATE* Users on iOS 5.0.1 there is a much simpler fix now in Cydia check out our iBooksFix2 post.

Yesterday we posted a video from ih8sn0w demoing a working version of iBooks running on iOS5. Unfortunately he stated that he would not be releasing the fix because it was "unstable." However, today a method has surfaced for enabling iBooks on a jailbroken iOS5 device via SSH. I am not sure if this is the same method that ih8sn0w was using in his video, but it does work.

Step 1. If you have iBooks installed already, remove …
