My first thoughts of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5 Jailbreak status

i5

Hey everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since my last post, these past few months of school have been pretty crazy and I haven’t had much free time. However, today I received my iPhone 5 in the mail and just wanted to make a post regarding my thoughts of the device so far. First and foremost, I LOVE the LTE connection. Having only ever used a 2G/3G device personally, it is a breath of fresh air to have such a fast connection on my phone.

Prior to my iPhone 5, I had a 4S on 5.1.1 for jailbreaking, so I …

NBC To provide free 2012 Olympic streaming via iOS and Android devices

olympics

Love it or hate it, we’re stuck with NBC as our Olympics broadcaster in the US, and the company recently laid out its full plans for the 2012 Olympics in London this summer. The good news first: NBCOlympics.com will live stream every single event (they’ll even be on YouTube, and in the UK the BBC has its own plans) for the first time ever including streams of each of its channels, encompassing 3,500 total hours and the awarding of all 302 medals. The bad news is that if you’re not a cable subscriber, many of those hours will not be …

iOS 6 to be Announced at WWDC 2012

ios-6

We mentioned earlier that WWDC 2012 is all but hours away. News is coming left right and center about what could and ‘will’ be released at Apple’s big event, more on that later. Current news at the moment is that banners have been spotted going up at the venue in San Francisco announcing iOS 6.  It’s being labeled as “the world’s most advanced mobile operating system” and comes along with a new fingerprint-styled icon.

Take a look at the images snapped by viewers below:

So what do you think? Looking forward to WWDC 2012, iOS 6 and all the other …

FacebookThis allows instant Facebook uploading from your Photos app (Cydia)

fbthumb

A new Cydia tweak has been released called FacebookThis which allows you to upload images to your Facebook account directly from your photos app. There has been much speculation about Facebook being integrated into iOS6, but with no official announcements as of yet surrounding the release of iOS6, this new tweak will give you a feel for what Facebook iOS integration might be like in the future.

FacebookThis comes with no extra icons or settings, it simply integrates seemlessly into the photos app share menu. After installation you will see a new option for “Facebook.” The tweak even allows you …

Sn0wbreeze 2.9.4 released to create prejailbroken iOS 5.1.1 firmware for unlockers

sn0wbreeze

@ih8sn0w has updated his popular custom firmware creation tool Sn0wbreeze. Sn0wbreeze 2.9.4 adds support for the creation of custom(pre-jailbroken) firmware that you can restore which will preserve the baseband of your iPhone. This tool is essential for software/hardware unlockers who need to maintain a specific baseband in order to be able to unlock their device. While creating your custom 5.1.1 firmware you have a few different options. One option is to create a pre-jailbroken firmware, this means that once you restore the custom firmware you will already be jailbroken and there will be no need to run Absinthe or …

Untethered 5.1.1 Jailbreak to be released in a few weeks

pod2g

Well, it turns out the poll on @pod2g‘s blog paid off as he has announced that the new jailbreak he has been working on will be released in the next few weeks instead of waiting for iOS6 to be released to see if the exploits are still available. There are some oddities in the compatibility of this upcoming jailbreak. Apparently the jailbreak will work on iOS 5.1.1 with most devices, however the iPod3G, iPhone3Gs and AppleTV 3 are currently excluded. However, old bootrom 3Gs users will be able to use this jailbreak, it is only the new bootrom …

iOS 5.1.1 update released to fix AirPlay and Network bugs

update

Today Apple released a minor incremental update to the iOS firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which fixes some bugs with networking and AirPlay as well as a few other things. As always, if you are waiting for the release of an untethered jailbreak, please do not update unless you have your SHSH blobs and are on an A4 device or lower. For those on A5+ devices on 5.1, you will want to wait until @pod2g has cleared the update before upgrading your own device since there is always the chance that they patched one or more of …

5.1 Untethered Jailbreak still weeks away according to pod2g

51

Soon after the release of 5.1, various jailbreak developers started posting images of their A5 and A5X devices jailbroken running 5.1. Of course, this doesn’t mean much for end-users since the code they use cannot be distributed nor would end-users know where to begin to use it. Since those first few days after it’s release, we haven’t heard much in the way of news surrounding the upcoming jailbreak.

Today, @pod2g has released some new info suggesting that we are still weeks away from a public jailbreak. Apparently, the Chronic Dev-Team has bits and pieces of a userland jailbreak, however, …

New iPad battery problems?

ipad3battery

With the recent release of the New iPad, a few weeks back, iOS gamers, media editors and everyday users have been putting it through the ringer. From the all the hype of the new LTE compatibility, the retina display and all the great new apps, it almost makes your iPad2 seem like a paper weight. But like the iPhone 4S, does the New iPad also have battery issues?

Dr. Raymond Soneira, president of DisplayMate Technologies Corporation, has put the device through its paces, testing just about every aspect of its “resolutionary” new Retina display. One thing he found, “batteries do …

Stefan (i0n1c) Esser Untethered 5.1 jailbreak video on the new iPad (iPad 3,3)

ipad3

So, we heard a few hours ago that Stefan Esser (@i0n1c) Jailbroke the iPad 2 on 5.1, then @MuscleNerd Jailbroke the new iPad, now Stefan Esser has come out with a video demonstrating an untethered jailbreak on the new iPad .

Note: Stefan Esser covers the bottom corner of Cydia because it shows his UUID.

No ETA as to when this is going to be released to the public, but it’s definitely a huge step in the right direction.…

Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 iOS 5.1 jailbreak for all non-A5 devices (Tethered)

redsn0w

As you know, any iDevice prior to the iPad2/iPhone4S is susceptible to the limera1n bootrom exploit. Because of this, no matter what new firmware Apple releases, these devices will ALWAYS have a tethered jailbreak available. Today @musclenerd has released Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 to perform a tethered jailbreak on these devices.

Simply download redsn0w, run the jailbreak section as you normally would and then after the jailbreak process has completed you can re-open redsn0w and go into “extras” and select “just boot” in order to boot your tethered device. Remember that this does not apply to the iPad2 and iPhone4S. If you …
