Users who have been using our Windows Absinthe jailbreak tutorial have been reporting that when they click the Absinthe icon they get taken to the greenpois0n page and nothing else happens. For those who are stuck please try our Absinthe VPN fix. This seems to be the same issue Mac users were having yesterday and the VPN fix should do the trick.
If this doesn’t work you can always use the Absinthe CLI method, however this is a bit more difficult than the GUI version and requires basic command prompt knowledge.
All you need to do is go …
Those keeping up with pod2g’s iOS blog may have noticed a new post this morning updating us on the status of the iPhone 4S untethered jailbreak. According to his latest post, he has been making some great progress and is very close but he is having an issue with the processor cache. No update on whether or not he has succeeded with the iPad2 or not. He says he will post more information tomorrow.
Here are the news of the 4S week-end.
The untether fails right now because I’m having processor cache issues.
I’m close, but …
The Chr0nic Dev team is the group of hackers behind the Greenpois0n jailbreak. Many have been wondering what they have been up to since their software still only supports up to version 4.2.1 of the iOS firmware. Earlier today they did a comprehensive update on their blog explaining what they have been working on and what is to come.
Of course, everyone is holding their breath for the upcoming iPad2 jailbreak. @p0sixninja has recently made an announcement that an exploit could be developed in as little as a few weeks. However, we all know that release dates …
As you know, @comex had initially been successful at creating an iPad2 jailbreak but it was immediately patched by Apple in 4.3.1 and there was much controversy surrounding the patch as it had been stated that the likelihood of Apple finding the exploit on their own was not high. Because of this, it was suspected that there was a mole working with Apple to relay exploit information. The actual facts are yet to be uncovered.
With the release of the iPad2, of course the race is now on to jailbreak the device. Unfortunately it has been discovered that the expoits Limera1n and SHAtter have both been patched back in March of 2010.
iPad2 bootrom version iBoot-838.3 means it was compiled March’10. Seems geohot guessed right: limera1n was already closed
Also, it looks like Apple has blocked SHAtter as well.
Early testing also seems to show at least one thing SHAtter depends on was gone by March 2010 too
SHAtter can’t work at all with the “thing” I referred to gone
For those hoping to …
Well, Greenpois0n RC6 was supposed to be the final release, however, in lieu of the recent iBooks anti-jailbreaking security measure and wi-fi issues that were occuring on the AppleTV 2G after using greenpois0n, a new update has been released to address these issues.
Why iBooks failed to open, if jailbroken on iOS 4.2.1 with Greenpois0n?
Apple has allegedly built a jailbreak checker into iOS 4.0 and above to see if someone’s iPhone has been jailbroken. If they found it hacked, then Apple blocks access to the content, like in the latest version of the iBooks app. Whenever a user …
Last week, on our sister site AppleTVBlogr.com, we reported that Greenpois0n RC6 was the next update the Chronic Dev team was working on. This new version of Greenpois0n adds compatibility for the AppleTV 2G for an untethered jailbreak on 4.2.1 The update is live now and is available for both Windows and Mac OSX. A tutorial will be posted shortly on how to use it.
Earlier today we talked about the new Cydia application “Animate” which allows you to change the animated boot logo that shows up after jailbreaking with Greenpois0n RC5. Unfortunately, since this application just came out, there are a few bugs. The first bug, pretty major, is that you cannot search for this application in Cydia. You have to search for “Apple Boot Logo” which has “animate” as a dependency so when you install the Apple Boot Logo the application will be installed as well.
The next problem is that whoever uploaded the Apple Boot Logo package has it set to …
iPhone developer @JayWalker9988 has finished up his Cydia application that will allow you to set custom boot animations for the new Greenpois0n RC5 untethered jailbreak. As many of you may already know, a while ago Chronic informed us that we would be getting a surprise with the new version of GP when it was released. The surprise was that we can now set animated boot logos on all devices. This is huge news since up until this point you could only set custom boot logos on the iPhone 3G and they were not animated.
JayWalker has submitted his …
As we reported earlier today, there is already a Verizon iPhone jailbreak. The Chronic Dev Team has now released beta4 of Greenpois0n RC5 which adds support for firmware 4.2.6 which comes installed on the Verizon iPhones. You can download the updated version below for Windows and Mac. If you do not have a Verizon iPhone, there are no new features or bug fixes in beta4, it just adds the support for 4.2.6
Good news for those of you who are either switching from AT&T to Verizon or are switching to an iPhone if you’re already on Verizon. Pod2g has been on the Chrnoic Dev IRC chatroom all morning walking Verizon customers, who have already gotten their hands on the CDMA version of the iPhone4, through the jailbreaking process. The picture below shows a CDMA iPhone4 running Cydia. Notice the iOS version and model.
Alright, for those of you waiting for the Windows version of GP RC2, it is now out! You can use the same Greenpois0n RC5 Tutorial, it will work the same way. Please feel free to post if you have any questions or comments.
In our Greenpois0n RC5 tutorial I put under requirements that you need to have at least 10.5 (Leopard) to run Greenpois0n RC5. Many users have been reporting problems getting Greepois0n to open on 10.5 Luckily the guys over at cmdshift have posted a nice little writeup about how to get GP RC5 running on your Leopard installation:
It looks like it was libcurl.4.dylib that GreenPois0n is calling, and it looks like it’s calling version 6.0.0, but getting 5.0.0 and then closes out when this happens.
Here’s the solution if this is your issue:
