How to fix crashing and “No Service” after downgrading 06.15.00 baseband

Several of our users have been reporting issues with the 06.15.00 downgrade method we posted early this morning. Some people have been having issues getting the downgrade to go through(still trying to figure out the cause of this), but others have been successful with the downgrade but have been experiencing crashing or "No Service" errors. For those people with crashes or "No Service" try going into Cydia>Manage>Packages and select MobileSubstrate, then go to modify then click "reinstall" on the next page click "Continue Queuing" and then go back to the packages page and find Ultrasn0w and do the same for …

MuscleNerd confirms progress on 06.15.00 iPad baseband downgrade

Well, it has probably been a year or so since the last time we heard about any progress being made on fixing the 06.15.00 baseband GPS issues plaguing iPhone 3G/3Gs users who were forced to upgrade their baseband in order to unlock. There was talk for a while about MuscleNerd creating an 06.15.00 baseband downgrade so that 3G/3Gs users who were on the 06.15.00 baseband could downgrade back to 05.13.04 which would still allow them to unlock via Ultrasn0w, but would also allow them to use their GPS once again.

There are no further details, but he does go on …

iOS 5.1.1 update released to fix AirPlay and Network bugs

Today Apple released a minor incremental update to the iOS firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which fixes some bugs with networking and AirPlay as well as a few other things. As always, if you are waiting for the release of an untethered jailbreak, please do not update unless you have your SHSH blobs and are on an A4 device or lower. For those on A5+ devices on 5.1, you will want to wait until @pod2g has cleared the update before upgrading your own device since there is always the chance that they patched one or more of …

How to Fix “Error Establishing a Database Connection” for Absinthe on iPhone 4S and iPad 2

Some users have been reporting an issue when launching the Absinthe app installed on their device saying it returns an

error establishing a database connection

For users having this issue, iOS hacker PlanetBeing (who was involved with creating Absinthe) outlined a simple fix for this problem. Apparently, all you need to do is go to Settings > Network > VPN > ON.

The VPN connection will most likely give an error and your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 should reboot shortly after. Once it’s rebooted, try launching the Absinthe webclip again.

Feel free to give us some feedback, did this …

Corona 1.0-5 out now to fix iBooks issues

There have been many reported issues with iBooks throughout the entire jailbreaking history of 5.x firmware. Today Corona 1.0-5 was released to solve these issues on the untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak. 1.0-4 was released about a half hour ago but Saurik quickly released 1.0-5 to force Cydia to reboot your phone after installation since many users did not realize the device needed to be rebooted for the fix to take effect. Another method called iBooksFix2 was released a while back, but many people still reported problems with iBooks. If you are having issues, be sure to go into Cydia and …

iBooksFix2 fixes iBooks issue on jailbroken 5.0.1 devices

It's no surprise that Apple has been combating jailbreaking since it's inception. More recently, they have done so by making iBooks crash on jailbroken devices. The jailbreakers have been working hard to combat this but it seems that with every new iOS release, old iBooks fixes become useless.

For those jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1 there is a real easy fix for iBooks. First add the repo http://repo.insanelyi.com to Cydia and then search for iBooksFix2 and install it. That's it! Once you've installed the fix and rebooted your device iBooks should work just fine.
