It seems as though ever since Apple ditched Google Maps for their own version of GPS mapping, rumors have been flying about Google releasing a standalone app in the iTunes App Store. I had been using iOS 5.1.1 up until recently, when I swapped my 4S for an iPhone 5 so I hadn’t yet experienced Apple maps(sans some experimentation in the early beta versions). I have to say that I haven’t really experienced any major issues with Apple maps in the few days I have been using it, however there have been loads of people loathing over the application on …

Like never before, you can take control over downloaded file types and harness the true power of the network connection on your device. With the recent release of Ultrasn0w 1.2.7, I just wanted to post a link to download the DEB file for our readers who do not have a WiFi connection on their phone to download it from Cydia. A reminder, Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 does not add support for any new basebands, it only adds support for basebands which were already compatible with Ultrasn0w on iOS 5.1.1.
Once you’ve downloaded the deb files, if you aren’t sure how to install them, be sure to check out our How to Install Ultrasn0w without WiFi tutorial.
Ultrasn0w 1.2.7/MobileSubstrate - DEB
A late model iPad2 Wi-Fi (iPad2,4) has been the only A5 device that was not yet supported by the recent untethered jailbreak exploit, Rocky Racooon. Early this morning, the Chronic-Dev Team released updates to Absinthe and Rocky Racoon so that iPad2,4 users can now finally join the jailbreak crowd. All 5.1.1 jailbreakers will notice an update to Rocky Racoon in Cydia, you can freely update but do not uninstall Rocky Racoon as it is necessary for the jailbreak.
For our readers who have updated to 5.1.1 using Sn0wbreeze 2.9.5, you may have noticed that even with a compatible baseband, Ultrasn0w does not work on 5.1.1. Until the iPhone-Dev Team releases an update to Ultrasn0w, you will have to install the Ultrasn0w 5.1.1 Fixer in order to get the unlock working. For your convenience, we have bundled the latest Ultrasn0w, MobileSubstrate and the Ultrasn0w 5.1.1 fixer into a single download.
The easiest way to install these deb files is to simply transfer the files to any folder on your phone using iFunBox, iExplorer or SSH and then installing the …
You guessed it, another post about today’s release of Absinthe 2.0 for an iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak. This time, we bring you a video tutorial to walk you through the jailbreak process. In case you were having issues using our Absinthe 2.0.4 written tutorial or our Rocky Racoon untether package tutorial, have a look as Euan jailbreaks his iPhone4 on 5.1.1 using the new tool!
A few of our users have been having trouble downloading the Rocky Racoon 1.0-1 package from Cydia. You should be able to see the package by simply loading Cydia and refreshing changes since the package is on a default repo. However, if you are having problems seeing the package, you can download the deb file below for manual installation. If you have iFile, all you need to do is transfer the deb to any folder on your device(make it something easy to remember like var/mobile/Documents). Then in iFile open the deb with “Installer.”

Hot on the heels of the Absinthe 2.0 release earlier today, the Chronic Dev Team has already rolled out 2.0.1 to address some minor bugs from the initial release. There isn’t much information regarding this release other than the fact that it is to fix bugs, but if you’ve already successfully jailbroken using 2.0 you can go ahead and leave it. For those who have yet to jailbreak, we always advise to use the latest version of the jailbreak tools so you can download the new release below.

A bunch of our users have been reporting receiving the error HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error after jailbreaking with the recently released Absinthe 2.0 tool. This error is normal and has nothing to do with the jailbreak process. The problem is that with so many people jailbreaking all at once, and all the newly jailbroken devices, Saurik’s Cydia servers are getting flooded with traffic.
Since the servers can’t handle the traffic, you receive this error. Just keep trying and over time the traffic will smooth out and Cydia will continue functioning like normal. Until then, you just have to …

It’s been 3 months since the release of the Absinthe untethered jailbreak for A5 devices(iPhone4S and iPad2). Today the iPhone-Dev team has announced the release of Redsn0w 0.9.10b7 which finally brings the Corona exploit to Redsn0w so you can now jailbreak the iPad2 and the iPhone4S on 5.0.1 using the new version of the tool.
Besides the addition of A5 jailbreaking capabilities, the new Redsn0w brings some other new features as well. One of the great new features is that if you wish to make a custom firmware with your SHSH blobs stitched directly into the file, Redsn0w can now …
