Slowly, I am adding jailbreak functionality to my unjailbroken iPhone 5. Custom Bootlogo on iOS5 devices with Animate Fix
An updated tweak has been released in Cydia today called “Animate Fix for 4.x.x/5.x.x” which allows you to use the custom bootlogos that were introduced in the 4.2.1 jailbreak on iOS5 devices! Using this tweak is simple. Install “Animate” from Cydia(even though it still currently says that it’s for 4.x.x only). After you’ve installed Animate make sure to install “Animate Fix for iOS 4.x.x/5.x.x” which is needed to use custom bootlogos on iOS5.

Along with the release of iOS5 compatible Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 yesterday, the iPhone-Dev team added a special note for iPhone3Gs users who have updated to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband or plan on doing so. Just like any other unlockers, 06.15.00 baseband users should NEVER update to a new firmware using a stock firmware. Even though the iPad baseband cannot be upgraded, trying to install a factory firmware may screw up the baseband.

Redsn0w 0.9.8b7b Includes Untethered 4.3.5 Jailbreak for Old-Bootrom 3Gs
A few days ago the dev-team released redsn0w 0.9.8b7 too add support for 4.3.5 and 4.2.10 IPSW files and to fix an issue with the iPad1 and was supposed to fix the 4.2.10 tethered issues. However, it did not fix the 4.2.10 issues so Redsn0w 0.9.8b7a was released soon after.
Today, they released another revision Redsn0w 0.9.8b7b that adds support for iOS5 beta 7 IPSW files. This update also allows old-bootrom 3Gs owners to have an untethered 4.3.5 jailbreak as well as re-enabling custom boot logos and verbose bootingC. This is for old-bootrom 3Gs only.

Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 released fixes lingering issues with custom boot logos
Shortly after the dev team released Redsn0w 0.9.6rc10, to add custom bootlogos to their untethered jailbreak, they released a patch Redsn0w 0.9.6rc11. Even after that, it was apparent that there were issues getting custom boot logos to work using Redsn0w. The dev team has now released another patch Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 which is said to fix any lingering issues.
