Well, this morning the new Apple iPhone 5 went on sale and not even 24 hours later, @chpwn has already managed to jailbreak his! Of course A4 and lower devices can already jailbreak on iOS6, but A5 and A5X devices such as the iPhone4S, iPad3 and now iPhone5 are not susceptible to the limera1n exploit which allows for the tethered iOS6 jailbreak. This means that chpwn has found a new exploit, likely in the iOS6 firmware, which has enabled him to jailbreak the iPhone5.
This is great news and very unexpected, it can take weeks or even months …
@chpwn has just released a great new app. Zephyr multitasking brings some awesome new features to multitasking on the iPhone. Instead of having to double-tap your home button to access your open applications, you can simply swipe up from the bottom of the homescreen to pull up the apps. Additionally you can swipe left or right on your screen to quickly and easily switch between apps just like on the iPad. Zephyr is available in Cydia now.
Zephyr is multitasking gestures for iPhone and iPod touch. From swiping up to show the multitasking switcher or quickly swiping to a …
Over the past 24 hours, the web has been buzzing about Carrier IQ, a keylogger that is present on many smartphone operating systems including Android, Symbian, Blackberry, WebOS and now it has been discovered within iOS as well. @chpwn did some digging around after this news had surfaced and discovered that Carrier IQ has been present in every version of iOS up to and including the current iOS5.
The filenames vary depending on the firmware revision as follows:
iOS 3: /usr/bin/IQAgent
iOS 4 and 5: /usr/bin/awd_ice2 or /usr/bin/awd_ice3
We can expect that there will be a cydia package to
*UPDATE* @saurik has posted an update to his Twitter account that the SHSH saving issue was actually a coding SNAFU and not Apple blocking access to his servers.
Apple continues to crack down hard on the jailbreaking community. Today @chpwn has informed us that Apple has blocked access to all of Amazon’s servers. @saurik has Cydia access the Apple servers to save our SHSH keys. Because his servers are now blocked we cannot save our SHSH keys automatically through Cydia. This can easily be remedied by using TinyUmbrella to save your SHSH files locally and presumably Saurik …
Earlier today, a Twitter user asked @chpwn if they had made any progress on getting Cydia 4.2 ready. Apparently Cydia is already compatible with 4.2 and ready for release following the public release of 4.2 which is supposedly coming out tomorrow. This DOES NOT mean go out and update to 4.2 right now. Please remember that even though Cydia will be compatible with 4.2 shortly after it’s release, doesn’t mean that all of the Cydia apps will be compatible. After any major firmware upgrade it usually takes a week or two for the application developers to make each …
Greenpois0n was supposed to be launched with Chronic Dev Team’s SHAtter exploit but it actually didn’t. It however used limera1n’s exploit to jailbreak iOS 4.1. The SHAtter exploit is still safe for a future iOS release.
Not only that Chronic Dev Team showed greatness by delaying the greenpois0n release and saving their own exploit, they have now come up with something even great. They have actually made greenpois0n open source by releasing the source code of it’s main injector module called ’syringe’.
What is syringe?
Syringe is the “Injector” module from GreenPois0n. It’s used for sending exploits to the device …
iPhone 4 Users: If jailbreaking causes you to lose MMS and FaceTime use the following OFFICIAL fix from comex:

*Note the server is getting POUNDED right now as you can imagine …
It appears …
