Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2 released to fix SSH issues after jailbreaking iOS6 beta

redsn0w111

Today, the iPhone-Dev team released Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2 to fix issues with SSH after jailbreaking the iOS6 beta firmware. Users who used the beta tethered jailbreak had been experiencing issues where they were not able to connect via SSH after jailbreaking. This release will fix those issues. Please note that this update does not add support for iOS6 beta 2, so if you want to jailbreak iOS6 beta 2 you will still need to point Redsn0w at a beta 1 firmware.

How to jailbreak iOS6 beta 2 with Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2

jailbroken

Today, Apple released iOS6 beta 2 to developers. For those developers who wish to update their 3rd party apps and tweaks to be compatible with iOS6 once it is released publicly, this tutorial will walk you through jailbreaking iOS6 beta 2 with Redsn0w. Since Redsn0w has not yet been updated to support the new beta release, you will need to use Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2 which was released to perform a tethered jailbreak on beta 1 of iOS6. You will also need an iOS6 beta 1 firmware file since Redsn0w does not recognize the beta 2 firmware yet.

Jailbreak iOS 6 Beta with Redsn0w (Video Tutorial)

ios61

The other day we mentioned that a new release from the iPhone-Dev Team, Redsn0w 0.9.13dev1 can perform a tethered jailbreak of iOS 6 beta firmware on A4 and lower devices. This jailbreak uses the limera1n bootrom exploit which is why it won't work on A5(X) devices. This jailbreak also does not install Cydia. All package installation and transferring must be done via SSH or afc2. This is a video tutorial on how to jailbreak iOS 6 beta on an iPhone 3Gs/4 or iPod Touch 4.

Jailbreak iOS6 beta 1 using Redsn0w 0.9.13dev1

redsn0w11

Just days after the seeding of iOS6 beta 1 to Apple developers, the iPhone-Dev team has released Redsn0w 0.9.13dev1 to perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS6 beta 1 using GeoHot's limera1n exploit(A4 devices and lower only). However, this release is for developers only. First of all, you need a developer account in order to restore the iOS6 beta firmware anyway and secondly, this jailbreak will not install Cydia. It will, however, give you root access to the device via SSH or afc2.

The first time you run Redsn0w, you will need to specify your 6.0 beta 1 IPSW file. This …

Sn0wbreeze 2.8b9 and Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 released to add iOS beta 5.0.1 support

ios5

For developers who have updated to the iOS 5.0.1 firmware that was released yesterday and would like to jailbreak, MuscleNerd and the iPhone-Dev team have released Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 and ih8sn0w has released Sn0wbreeze 2.8b9 to add support for the new beta firmware.

Redsn0w users, the new update does natively detect the new 5.0.1 firmware but because the firmware is not yet public, you will have to specify the firmware the first time you run it, but from there Redsn0w will cache the necessary files and you shouldn't have to specify the firmware again.

For those who want to update to …

Apple making it more difficult to downgrade firmware in iOS5

downgrade

The cat and mouse game between Apple and the hackers continues. The dev-team has announced today, in a blog post aptly named Blob Monster, that Apple is stepping their game up in their anti-jailbreak measures. Apparently, beginning with the new iOS5 beta firmware, Apple has begun building dependency on the authenticity of the APTicket during the boot process which could make it more difficult to downgrade firmware in the future. The APTicket, unlike the BBTicket is a uniquely generated number that changes each time you restore your firmware. It is not solely based on your ECID and firmware …

sn0wbreeze

@ih8sn0w has released a new beta version of sn0wbreeze which will allow old bootrom 3Gs users to have an untethered jailbreak on iOS5 Beta 1. Sn0wbreeze is a Windows program that will allow you to create a custom prejailbroken firmware and restore it to your device, preserving your baseband. Of course, ultrasn0w has not yet been updated to support iOS5 so if you need to unlock you shouldn't update.

Tethered iOS5 Jailbreak Using Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 Tutorial

ios5

The iPhone-Dev team has already released their tethered jailbreak for the iOS5 beta firmware. As we announced earlier, iOS5 is still susceptible to the limera1n exploit and therefore it was very easy for the dev-team to update their software to support the new firmware. Unfortunately, it appears that @i0n1cs untetthered exploit has been patched in iOS5 so it could be quite some time before we get an untethered jailbreak.
