gmaps

With the recent of Google Maps for iOS6, the obvious next step was for someone to develop a tweak which allows you to set Google Maps as your default maps . Well, there is now a tweak available to do just that. HASHBANG Productions has released a new tweak in Cydia for devices that are compatible with the tethered jailbreak, called MapsOpener. MapsOpener allows you to set the recently released Google Maps app as your default maps , effectively causing any related links to open in Google Maps by default.

Google Maps for iOS6 now available in iTunes store

googlemaps

It seems as though ever since ditched Google Maps for their own version of GPS mapping, rumors have been flying about Google releasing a standalone app in the iTunes App Store. I had been using iOS 5.1.1 up until recently, when I swapped my 4S for an iPhone 5 so I hadn’t yet experienced Apple maps(sans some experimentation in the early versions). I have to say that I haven’t really experienced any major issues with Apple maps in the few days I have been using it, however there have been loads of people loathing over the on …

dreamthumb

: The Dream JB has been confirmed fake. Read more details here.

Well, today is the day we will finally get a better idea of the legitimacy of the Dream JB untethered iOS6 jailbreak which will purportedly work on any 6 device. This includes an iPhone5 jailbreak as well as a jailbreak for the latest iPads. Of course we are quite skeptical over the claims being made by the anonymous developer who says he is not affiliated with any of the current dev teams. However, the lack of any sort of progress on an jailbreak …

My first thoughts of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5 Jailbreak status

i5

Hey everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since my last post, these past few months of school have been pretty crazy and I haven’t had much free time. However, today I received my iPhone 5 in the mail and just wanted to make a post regarding my thoughts of the device so far. First and foremost, I LOVE the LTE connection. Having only ever used a 2G/ device personally, it is a breath of fresh air to have such a fast connection on my phone.

Prior to my iPhone 5, I had a 4S on 5.1.1 for jailbreaking, so …

The iPhone5 has already been jailbroken by chpwn!

i5

Well, this morning the new went on sale and not even 24 hours later, @chpwn has already managed to his! Of course A4 and lower devices can already on , but A5 and A5X devices such as the 4S, iPad3 and now 5 are not susceptible to the limera1n exploit which allows for the tethered jailbreak. This means that chpwn has found a new exploit, likely in the firmware, which has enabled him to jailbreak the iPhone5.

This is great news and very unexpected, it can take weeks …

siri

Since the 4S was , there has been no shortage of Siri tweaks including SiriSports, MyAssistant and Hands-Free Control among others. Today, I discovered a new Tweak for Siri called ExtendSiri which adds 4 buttons to the Siri interface. The tweak is very simple, all you have to do is install it and the buttons will be added to your interface. The buttons can perform the following operations: , Refresh, Clear and Dismiss. These actions can already be performed by default but this tweak makes it easier and allows you to clear a without closing …

TapIn.tv allows you to become an instant field reporter [App Store Review]

tapintv

I’m excited to announce a great new application in the iTunes store called TapIn.tv. I had the pleasure of testing this application for the developers and I have already found plenty of great uses for it. TapIn.tv is an easy-to-use streaming application that allows you to video/audio directly from your iDevice to the internet for all of your friends(and even complete strangers) to see and hear.

As technology advances, it is becoming easier and easier to what you see with other people. TapIn.tv takes that concept to the next level allowing you to instantly stream exactly what …

Olympic 2012 Medal for Notification Center – Keep up to date with Olympic results

olympic

We already told you about the free Live Stream of the 2012 Olympics on iOS devices, but now there is an even easier way to follow your country’s 2012 Olympic standings! Olympic 2012 Medal for Notification Center is a new tweak in the Cydia store that will allow you to track the medal progress of your country directly from your Notification Center. Unfortunately, this tweak will set you back $2.00, which we think is a little steep for a tweak that will only be useful for a few weeks, but if you are a die-hard Olympic follower and you’re …

NBC To provide free 2012 Olympic streaming via iOS and Android devices

olympics

Love it or hate it, we’re stuck with NBC as our broadcaster in the US, and the company recently laid out its full plans for the 2012 in London this summer. The good news first: NBCOlympics.com will live every single event (they’ll even be on YouTube, and in the UK the BBC has its own plans) for the first time ever including streams of each of its channels, encompassing 3,500 total hours and the awarding of all 302 medals. The bad news is that if you’re not a cable subscriber, many of those hours will not be …

AppleNBerry now offering permanent IMEI unlock for AT&T locked iPhones

imei

Often times, we refer our readers to AppleNBerry, the reseller of the Gevey hardware for certain iPhone4/4S firmware and baseband combinations. Unfortunately, the Gevey is not with all basebands so some users are still stuck with a locked device. Earlier this week, AppleNBerry began offering a new IMEI unlocking service which will permanently, and officially unlock your device without needing to jailbreak. Unfortunately, this is not an inexpensive solution. An IMEI unlock is going to set you back $150, but if you have an AT&T locked phone, with a baseband which is not unlockable, it may …
