MapsOpener allows you to set Google Maps as default in iOS6
With the recent release of Google Maps for iOS6, the obvious next step was for someone to develop a tweak which allows you to set Google Maps as your default maps app. Well, there is now a tweak available to do just that. HASHBANG Productions has released a new tweak in Cydia for devices that are compatible with the iOS6 tethered jailbreak, called MapsOpener. MapsOpener allows you to set the recently released Google Maps app as your default maps application, effectively causing any map related links to open in Google Maps by default.

It seems as though ever since Apple ditched Google Maps for their own version of GPS mapping, rumors have been flying about Google releasing a standalone app in the iTunes App Store. Hey everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since my last post, these past few months of school have been pretty crazy and I haven’t had much free time. Well, this morning the new Apple iPhone 5 went on sale and not even 24 hours later, @chpwn has already managed to jailbreak his! Of course A4 and lower devices can already jailbreak on iOS6, but A5 and A5X devices such as the iPhone4S, iPad3 and now iPhone5 are not susceptible to the limera1n exploit which allows for the tethered iOS6 jailbreak. Hope all our US readers had a great 4th of July! MuscleNerd and the iPhone-Dev team have released Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 to fix issues with the 06.15.00 iPad baseband downgrade that some users were experiencing. In addition to this fix, they have also added a new “DFU IPSW” feature to the “Extras” section which will allow users with a broken home or power button to put their device into DFU mode.

Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2 released to fix SSH issues after jailbreaking iOS6 beta
Today, the iPhone-Dev team released Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2 to fix issues with SSH after jailbreaking the iOS6 beta firmware. Users who used the beta tethered jailbreak had been experiencing issues where they were not able to connect via SSH after jailbreaking. This release will fix those issues. Please note that this update does not add support for iOS6 beta 2, so if you want to jailbreak iOS6 beta 2 you will still need to point Redsn0w at a beta 1 firmware.
