My first thoughts of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5 Jailbreak status
Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long since my last post, these past few months of school have been pretty crazy and I haven't had much free time. However, today I received my iPhone 5 in the mail and just wanted to make a post regarding my thoughts of the device so far. First and foremost, I LOVE the LTE connection. Having only ever used a 2G/3G device personally, it is a breath of fresh air to have such a fast connection on my phone.
Prior to my iPhone 5, I had a 4S on 5.1.1 for jailbreaking, so I am just now experiencing the additions of iOS6 and I am quite fond of those as well(sans Apple ditching Google Maps which isn't much of a problem for me anyway considering I use the TomTom app for my navigation needs).
Having used the phone for a few hours now, I must say that I am not very satisfied with the new screen size. Besides the fact that most of my apps have not been updated for iOS6 and therefore do not fill the entire screen, it just seems awkward. I wish they would have increased the screen size horizontally as well as vertically.
Other than that, I really have no complaints. The phone is very fast both operationally and of course data-wise with the LTE connection. Of course the one other issue I have is that there is no jailbreak available for the iPhone 5 as of yet. This is not the first time I have had to live without a jailbroken iPhone as I had purchased both the 4 and 4S before jailbreaks were made available for those devices as well. I can only hope that we will see a jailbreak in the coming months.
There is a website claiming to have an iOS 6.0.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5 as well as other iOS 6 devices. DreamJB claims that they will be releasing this jailbreak on December 22nd which would be 12 days from today. Of course, we are taking this claim with a grain of salt as we have seen dozens of fake jailbreaks over the years. They did update their website today claiming that they will be releasing proof of this jailbreak on Wednesday. Once they have released their "video proof" we will be able to assess whether this is a legitimate announcement or not. Until then, we aren't holding our breath
