Earlier today Pod2G along with members from both the Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev Team released Absinthe. Absinthe is a jailbreak tool that provides an untethered jailbreak for both the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
Below is a step by step video guide and the download you will need for jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 using Absinthe.

How to Fix “Error Establishing a Database Connection” for Absinthe on iPhone 4S and iPad 2
Some users have been reporting an issue when launching the Absinthe app installed on their device saying it returns an
error establishing a database connection
For users having this issue, iOS hacker PlanetBeing (who was involved with creating Absinthe) outlined a simple fix for this problem. Apparently, all you need to do is go to Settings > Network > VPN > ON.
The VPN connection will most likely give an error and your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 should reboot shortly after. Once it’s rebooted, try launching the Absinthe webclip again.

Redsn0w 0.9.10b4 released to fix iBooks issue
A while ago, Corona 1.0-5 was released to fix iBooks issues on jailbroken 5.0.1 devices. MuscleNerd has now released Redsn0w 0.9.10b4 with the same fix. For users who are already jailbroken, just run the new version over the top of your current jailbreak but be sure to uncheck the “Install Cydia” option so as not to corrupt your jailbreak. Corona 1.0-5 out now to fix iBooks issues
There have been many reported issues with iBooks throughout the entire jailbreaking history of 5.x firmware. Today Corona 1.0-5 was released to solve these issues on the untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak. 1.0-4 was released about a half hour ago but Saurik quickly released 1.0-5 to force Cydia to reboot your phone after installation since many users did not realize the device needed to be rebooted for the fix to take effect. iReb r5 update released for entering Pwned-DFU mode on Windows
iReb is a tool bundled with Sn0wbreeze(or as a standalone application). @ih8sn0w has released a new version of his Pwned-DFU tool, iReb, after 10 months without an update. iReb is mainly used for restoring custom firmware, usually made with Sn0wbreeze. It allows you to put your device into a Pwned-DFU state in order for iTunes to accept the firmware instead of displaying 16xx errors. iReb also serves other purposes such as fixing recovery mode loops and grabbing SHSH blobs. iOS 5.1 beta 3 confirmed to have patched the Corona untethered jailbreak exploit
A few days ago we reported that Apple had released iOS 5.1 beta 3 to developers. It has now been confirmed that the latest beta patches the recently released Corona jailbreak exploit. This means that users who wish to jailbreak their devices must either stay on 5.0.1 or upgrade to 5.0.1. This is especially important for iPhone4S users and iPad2 users since there is not present way to downgrade those devices at this time.

04.11.08 to be unlocked by React0r SIM Interposer package?
Today, we were informed by one of our readers, rollno, that a new Cydia package is being worked on called React0r which will allow Gevey users to unlock the 04.11.08 baseband on their iPhone4. Before I go any further, I just want to say that this is being developed by an unknown hacker in the scene so we cannot say for sure that this is legitimate. Apple releases iOS 5.1 beta 3 final release coming soon
Apple made one more step towards the final and public release of iOS 5.1 by releasing beta 3 today. The new beta release comes almost exactly a month after the release of 5.1 beta 2. Jailbreakers who haven’t already updated to 5.0.1 should do so ASAP and save their SHSH since 5.1 will likely close the untethered jailbreak exploit.
This appears to be a very minor update with a few small bug fixes. Also, the update seems to only be available OTA.
