How To Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered with Absinthe [Video Tutorial]

    Earlier today Pod2G along with members from both the Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev Team released Absinthe. Absinthe is a jailbreak tool that provides an untethered jailbreak for both the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

    Below is a step by step video guide and the download you will need for jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 using Absinthe.

    The Absinthe jailbreak tool works for the following devices and firmwares:

    • iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406)
    • iPad 2 Wifi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1

      I lost my camera roll. Im not sure what “Rerun the app” means. There is no more Absinthe app on my phone just cydia, and when i try to rerun the App on the computer, it says that my phone has been jail broken already.

        Yes, this is a known problem. Have you tried restarting your iPhone? This can often solve the problem. Let us know how you get on.

      Everytime i try this it just sits at the first step. Ive restored it and everything.. idk what to do

      I go through all the correct steps of the jailbreak and done so multiple times, once the jailbreak is close to being done it gives you the message (almost done- just unlock the screen if necessary, then tap the “jailbreak” app. i then do so, in the top left hand corner you see the loading sign then it does nothing after but stays on a completely white screen. i’ve restored, restart, and done everything to try to fix this issue, can someone PLEASE help me, please!

      You should underline the fact that at the moment it only works on MAC….!!!!

      Can any body tell how to unlock the iphone 4s after using Absinthe? I tried to use Ultrasn0w 1.2.5, but the installing process gives error and it seams to be not willing to complete the instillation.. Can someone help me with this problem??

      it loads for a while and when it finally the bar finally reaches 3/4 windows says absinthe has a problem and closes the progress — someone plz help

      i am using windows 7. i downloaded the absinthe 4.0 win. I open the program and it does not recognize the phone. Is there any help you can give me thanks Version iphone 4s 5.0.1 (9A405)

      I am trying to use the Absinthe on my iphone 4S (US AT&T locked)..but the Absinthe doesn’t recognize my phone and the Jailbreak button remains greyed (un-clickable). How to resolve this ?.

      does anyone having the problem with vpn error after jailbreak your ipad2 3g? i have two ipads 2 ( 1 wifi and 1 3g) the one with wifi work like a charm. but for the 3g i keep having vpn error even though i acknowledge the error (which work with the wifi)… please advise.

      Using Absinthe, I was able to unlock my iphone 4S (9A406, firmware 1.0.14), however when I use the local Sim Card, it goes to the activation process and says that the sim card is not valid.
      On the iPhone it shows range (antennas) and 3G and also the Carrier has been updated from US AT&T to the local carrier. Do you think I need to do any additional setting?. I have already done 2-3 restarts to check if the problem gets solved..but did not.

        You will need to buy a Gevey Ultra S SIM card if you wish to unlock the phone and use an unofficial carrier.
