Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 Untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak (Video Tutorial)

    Hot on the heels of the news of the untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for A4 devices, I have made a video tutorial to help walk you through the process. This tutorial is for both users with stock factory iOS 5.0.1 firmware and also those who currently have a tethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak. Make sure you pay attention to the video if you are already on a tethered jailbreak so as not to corrupt your jailbreak and have to restore.

        Most of the Cydia repos are getting slammed right now with all these new jailbreakers, just give it some time and keep trying, eventually it will even back out.

      Yea I’m having a crazy amount of problems with sources and installing apps in cydia. I can’t seem to do much of anything but yea it must be getting slammed so I hope it gets better. I’m just happy they released!!

      Anyone else having troubles jailbreaking an iPod Touch 4th gen? I jailbroke an iPhone 4 with no problems but at the waiting for reboot, the iPod always reboots normally. Been trying for the past hour to no avail, ran as admin, xp compatibility mode, holding home throughout the whole process. None of the tricks I know work. Anyone have a solution to this?

      I am on 4.3.5 with old base band. I want to keep base band in untethered 5.0.1 in order to unlock it in the future. HOW DO YOU PERFORM UNTETHERED 5.0.1 JAILBREK AND KEEP CURRENT BASE BAND?

        Update to a custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware made with sn0wbreeze or redsn0w and then jailbreak.

          I have an iphone 4 with BB 2.10.04, FW 4.3.3; and want to keep the BB to use with gevey.

          Tried 5.0.1 jailbreak but itune got error 11 during restore with custom IPSW (used redsn0w 0.9.10b2 for window to build from factory 5.0.1 FW).

          Also tried the custom IPSW created by using redsn0w SHSH blobs’s stitch option.

          Checked both custom IPSWs and noticed that they are missing the bbfw file.

          Downloaded the FW (unactivated) for iphone 4 in this post, and it does have the bbfw file but it showed 4.11.08. This IPSW might resolve the error 11 issue but not sure if it will change the baseband to 4.11.08 or maintain my current baseband of 2.10.04?

          Any idea?

            You must restore a custom firmware made with sn0wbreeze, redsn0w or pwnage tool to preserve baseband. There is no need for SHSHs since 5.0.1 is still being signed. Make sure your iTunes is up to date and make sure you are restoring the custom firmware in Pwned-DFU mode.

      Absolutely amazing. I am on iPhone 4, untethered 5.0.1 (9A405) with modem firmware 04.10.01. Works like charm! All we need now is unlock for higher base bands. Keep doing good job guys!

      When I press just boot it says I get an error: “The IPSW for the following build is needed:
      iPhone2,1_5.0.1_9A404
      The required IPSW is either not public or not
      available right now. Please provide it
      manually using “Extras->Select IPSW”
      Is there a solutin to this problem?? Iphone 3gs old bootrom

        Try downloading the IPSW and manually specifying like it suggests.

      jailbroke with redsn0w 0.9.10b2, reinstalled ulstrasn0w 1.2.5

      inserted tmobile sim card and getting no service, network and carrier not available

        Did you restore a factory firmware at any point after upgrading to the iPad baseband? If so, you corrupted your baseband and you will have to reinstall it.

      I have installed iOS 5.0.1 on my iPod Touch 4G, and i have downloaded Redsn0w 0.9.10b2 and when i put my iPod into DFU mode, Redsn0w detects it, but it gets stuck on ‘Uploading First Stage’

      I am using Windowsd XP, and i have downloaded the right stuff to jailbreak!

      I followed the video to the pixel but Redsn0w still gets stuck on the ‘Uploading First Stage’ part!

      I have restored my iPod twice and it still happens.

      I don’t want to be on iOS 5.0.1 ‘standard’ forever!!

      PLEASE HELP!!!!

        Just update to 5.0.1 with iTunes and then use Redsn0w 0.9.10b2 to jailbreak.

        Download a 5.0.1 IPSW and choose the “Select IPSW” option in Redsn0w, select the firmware you downloaded and then jailbreak.

      Got a Problem with jailbreaking iphone4..

      i’ve updated my iphone4(factry unlockd) to 5.0.1 and its working perfectly…
      bt the problem with jaibreak using REDSNOW 0.9.10b1 , b2 ,and b3 …
      It stucks on “UPLOADING FIRST STAGE” and the redsnow crashes….i hav tried it several times ,,,it deosn’t work….guys help me out!!!!!

          vwz running all stock with 5.0.1. running redsnow in administrator on windows 7 and when i’m in DFU it detects device and says uploading first stage and then just sits there. no crashing or freezing. just stays on uploading first stage. tried many times and same thing. I dont need to use a ipsw correct, since i’m already on 5.0.1? very confusing compared to rooting haha. any help would be awesome. dont want to loose my info like i did last time i tried tether jailbreak and used an ipsw. noob here.

            This is rooting :P Try specifying your IPSW, sometimes that helps.

        You don’t need to make an IPSW at all unless you need to preserve your baseband.

      Guys downloaded Redsn0w from the above link and tried the jb on my Verizon (CDMA) iPhone 4 IOS 5.0.1 (9A405) modem firmware 3.0.03. I get in to DFU mode fine and redsn0w what it seems like does two uploads and then sits at waiting for reboot. What am I doing wrong? Please help!

        No, you must update to 5.0.1. Just use redsn0w or sn0wbreeze to update and preserve your baseband.

      I connect my iphone 4 ios 5.0.1 run redsn0w do the ipsw thing an clik jailbreak then it does it and it freezes on waiting for reboot. Then i try without the ipsw and it says error with shsh blobs then i turn it back on but no jailbreak some one help me and i have windows and i run administrator but same thing.

      I’ve used pawnage tools to create custom ipsw and tried restoring it from itunes. but it freezes at 99% while the progress bar on the phone shows 100% but remains that way for hours. I had wifi sync installed and once i uninstalled it, my restoration went through. wifi sync creates problems so i would suggest uninstalling it before using a custom ipsw to restore from.

      I have a 8gb 4gs with the new bootroom, ipad baseband 06.15.00. I restored to 5.0.1 with the file provided in the video. my problem is i cant get past the activation screen. I get Searching and then no service instead of my carrier.. any ideas?

      I have a Verizon iphone4 Version 5.0.1 (9A405) Model MC676LL Modem Firmware 3.0.03. I jail broke it using REdsn0w 0.9.10b4 and everything seemed to go fine. I went in Cydia and added some source. Accidentally added: cydia.hackulous.us… realized it wasnt working so I removed and correctly added cydia.hackulo.us. Now, when I opened my Hackulo, I only see AppSync fo OS 3.1 and for OS 3.2   I compared to my buddy and his is totally different. Im missiong AppSync IOS 5, etc. I tried to delete and re-add Hackulo several more times but no luck. I tried different internet connections but no luck. I tried to re-jail break (unchecking Cydia) and it fails: no successful firmware download after 60000 ms! I tried Green Poision and it looked like it went through but froze during the on screen process. I dont know what to do and if re-jail breaking is even the solution. Please help… I just want installlous

      I have been trying for several weeks too JB my 4G iPod, but I always get stuck at the same step.  It gets too “Waiting for Reboot” and the iPod turns on rather then entering DFU mode.  How can I remedy this?

      Sorry everybody but I have a problem when I run this program “Redsnow 0.9.10b5″. The first message is “Identifying”and others but when “Uploading first stage” appears, a new window appears saying that I have to close the program for an error. I can’t finish the program process.         if you are on mac than it will work good, try putting youre idevice in a soft reset (hold power and home button for about 10 seconds, and resetting you computer should work then :)

      hi i recently tryd 2 jail brek my ipod on the new update 5.1 everfink went thru fine but the cydia box is jus white n when i click on it.. it opens and closes and nuffink hapens.. am i doin sumfink rong i need help plzz!!

        5.1 is a tethered jailbreak, you have to boot tethered every time the device reboots in order for Cydia to work.
