iBooksFix2 fixes iBooks issue on jailbroken 5.0.1 devices

It's no surprise that Apple has been combating jailbreaking since it's inception. More recently, they have done so by making crash on jailbroken devices. The jailbreakers have been working hard to combat this but it seems that with every new iOS release, old fixes become useless.

For those jailbroken on iOS there is a real easy for iBooks. First add the repo http://repo.insanelyi.com to and then search for iBooksFix2 and install it. That's it! Once you've installed the fix and rebooted your device iBooks should work just fine.

This really works! Awesome! Thanks! iBooks has not worked for me ever since I first updated to iOS 5 and jailbroke. Now it’s finally working again. And such an easy fix. Thanks for posting this!

How safe is insanelyi as a repo? It’s not listed in Cydia is why I’m asking.

There’s no such thing as an “unsafe repo” only Cydia packages themselves can be unsafe and the iBooksFix2 is 100% safe. Also InsanelyI is a well-known and trusted community in the jailbreak scene.

rejailbreak ? how does one rejailbreak without avoiding a 5.1 update and then losing jailbreak for good ?  I have an ipad 2 and I waited forever for the jailbreak in december and now there is no jailbreak for iPhone 4s and iPad 2.  Going to keep researching until I find a solution for this iBook issue….. too bad, cuz now I lost my books  🙁

Came back to post that I was able to restore my ibooks app and did not lose my books 🙂  so disregard my post however I would love to know how one rejailbreaks and not upgrade to 5.1  Have a great day  😀

For devices that are susceptible to the limera1n exploit, you use your stored SHSH blobs to bypass Apple’s activation servers to restore old firmware.
