Siri port to iPhone4 and iPhone3Gs update
For those who are following the Siri port progress, it has been a crazy 72 hours. We have seen everything from fake siri "releases" to people claiming they have a port but refuse to release it. One thing is for sure, progress is being made all the time. Over the past few days iBrandon and myself have been lucky enough to work along side the Iris Dev team while they continue to perfect the Siri port to other devices.
At this point, it appears that they have the port fully working besides being able to access the servers, which is actively being looked into. Unlike earlier GUI ports, the port that they have been working on has full sound, languages, animated microphone button and all the correct graphics. When they activate Siri it will activate and deactivate a few times before eventually saying that it is having trouble accessing the network.
Another flaw is that their port does not currently work on CDMA iPhone4s, although it does work on iPhone3Gs(but there are still some bugs to iron out). So that is as far as anyone has gotten besides Steve Troughton Smith and his team who have actually been able to use an iPhone4S token to access the Siri servers. At this point, it is still unclear as to how a port will be done and whether or not it will be legal to distribute. If it does fall into the realm of piracy we won't be able to tell you how to do it here, but we will let you know when a real Siri port has been released. Unti then, don't believe everything you read on Twitter
Below iBrandon demonstrates his Siri port on a GSM iPhone4(everything but server connectivity) for the skeptics:
