iOS 5.1 is coming! Beta seeded to developers

ios5

Shortly after 5.0.1 was released to address issues with battery problems, it was apparent that not only did 5.0.1 not fix the issues, it created more. We’ve all been waiting for the inevitable release of the next firmware to finally correct these issues and today Apple began seeding iOS 5.1 and XCode 4.3 to developers. Again, once this firmware is released publicly you will want to stay away from the update if you have an A4 device and would like …

Ac1dSn0w is out now – how to jailbreak with AcidSn0w Beta 1

pwndev

A few days ago we told you about a new jailbreak tool coming to the scene called Ac1dSn0w by the Pwn Dev Team. Today Beta 1 of their new software has been released and is available for OSX. Unfortunately this first beta version does not include the remote jailbreaking feature or custom firmware creation we originally reported.

Just to be clear this is NOT an untethered jailbreak and does not support iPhone4S or iPad2(since it uses the same limera1n exploit …

Upcoming Ultrasn0w Update to Unlock iPhone 4S on Baseband 1.0.11

ultrasn0w

Well the news just keeps coming. Earlier today MuscleNerd has announced that a new update for Ultrasn0w is underway which will allow users to unlock their iPhone 4S on baseband 1.0.11. It’s also possible that the unlock will work on baseband 1.0.13(5.0.1) as well. However, since the unlock requires a jailbreak and the exploit pod2g is using in his jailbreak has been patched, we can for sure say it will work on 1.0.11. Unfortunately, the unlock that has been announced …

Chronic Dev Team admits to Apple patching a few critical exploits and releases C-Dev Crash Reporter beta

chronicdev

Just now, the Chronic Dev Team has admitted to what many of us had been speculating, Apple managed to patch a few of the critical exploits that they announced they had discovered at JailbreakCon 2011. Many people have been wondering what has been taking so long for the iOS5 jailbreak and now it is clear why.

On the plus side, as we announced just a bit ago, they have come up with a way for average jailbreakers and regular …

Soon you will be able to help developers find future jailbreak exploits!

crashreport

An interesting bit of information has begun to make it’s rounds on twitter tonight. As the whole jailbreak community patiently awaits the release of an iOS5 untethered jailbreak for all devices, an interesting new tool is coming to fruition that will allow everyday average jailbreakers to help developers find exploits for use in future jailbreaks.

With what little information we have now, it appears as though this will be done by installing an application on your computer that will tie …

Ac1dSn0w a new jailbreak tool to be released this Sunday

ac1dsn0w

Ac1dSn0w is out now!

A new jailbreak tool is about to break onto the jailbreak scene this Thanksgiving weekend. The tool is known as Ac1dSn0w. First of all, let me explain that the initial release of this tool will NOT be adding anything new. It will only support a tethered 5.0/5.0.1 jailbreak and it won’t work on A5 devices(just like redsn0w/sn0wbreeze). However, Ac1dSn0w promises to incorporate custom IPSW building as well as jailbreaking just like the latest Mac releases …

Save SHSH for 5.0.1 with TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 – MuscleNerd begins work on iOS5 downgrading

shsh

Today, @notcom has released TinyUmbrella 5.01.00 which adds tentative iOS 5.0.1 support. Using this new version of TinyUmbrella you can save your SHSH for 5.0.1. Even though you can save your SHSH, there is still no way to downgrade using your SHSH because of Apple’s blob monster.

Even though there is still no working solution for restoring 5.x on iPhone 4S I have released a 5.01.00 so you can at least save 5.0.1 SHSH. I have added tentative …

Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Tethered with Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 (Tutorial)

redsn0w

For those who updated to iOS 5.0.1 or are planning on it, as you know from our 5.0.1 update post, you have lost your chance for an untethered jailbreak. However, you can still do a tethered jailbreak on 5.0.1 since all A4 and earlier devices are permanently jailbroken tethered. Redsn0w has not yet been updated to support 5.0.1 so you will have to use the 5.0 version to jailbreak and boot tethered.

Enable hidden auto-correct bar on your iPhone using Autocorrection Bar

correction

It’s amazing how many features are already available on our iPhones but are disabled in the system settings. Earlier this week we told you about Firebreak, a tweak to enable panorama mode on your stock camera application. Now, another hidden feature has been discovered, an autocorrection bar. One of the most annoying things about the iOS auto-correction is that it automatically substitutes the most likely word for you(which is rarely the word you were shooting for).

Autocorrection Bar adds …
