We’ve released version 0.9.9b6 of redsn0w, with both a functional fix and cosmetic fix for iOS5 jailbreakers.  For iPhone3GS owners with the 06.15 baseband, this redsn0w eliminates the network crash you saw when using Location Services in iOS5 (in fact, you don’t even need to disable Location Services anymore during the initial setup).   The cosmetic fix is to …

How to jailbreak iOS5 on Windows with Redsn0w 0.9.9b4

redsn0w

Well, it’s been a few days since the Mac only release of Redsn0w 0.9.9b5. I figured the Windows version would be out within the next day so I only made a tutorial for that version of Redsn0w. However, I have decided to make a b4 tutorial for those users who only have access to Windows and would like to jailbreak on iOS5. This is a tethered jailbreak just like all other iOS5 jailbreaks. It will work on any device running iOS5 besides the iPad2 and the iPhone 4S which are not susceptible to the exploit.

How to update iPhone baseband to 06.15.00 for unlocking on iOS5

3gs

Alright, so it has come to my attention that many of our readers have an iPhone3Gs and would like to unlock their phones but are on a baseband which is not unlockable. The good news about the iPhone3Gs is that no matter what baseband you have, you can use Redsn0w to update your baseband to the iPad baseband, 06.15.00 which IS unlockable with Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 on iOS5.

*WARNING* By updating your iPhone to the 06.15.00 baseband you run a HUGE risk of losing your GPS functionality. I would say probably 9/10 iPhones that use the 06.15.00 baseband …

sn0wbreeze

Alright guys, so a few days ago I wrote a tutorial for Mac users on how to update preserving baseband on iOS5 using Redsn0w 0.9.9b5. First glimpse of iPhone 4 running Siri (Video)

siri

Just a second ago, @ih8sn0w creator of Sn0wbreeze retweeted an image from user @stroughtonsmith who has apparently already gotten Siri running on his iPhone 4. Just 2 days after the release of iOS5 it appears as though we are already going to be able to port Siri to other devices. Stay tuned for more as this develops! Here is the image of Siri running on an iPhone 4. I know, it’s not much

Of course this is not ready yet, but it is a HUGE step in the right direction. Stay tuned as more information about this develops.…

Important announcement for iPhone3Gs users on 06.15.00 baseband updating to iOS5

3gs

Along with the release of iOS5 compatible Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 yesterday, the iPhone-Dev team added a special note for iPhone3Gs users who have updated to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband or plan on doing so. Just like any other unlockers, 06.15.00 baseband users should NEVER update to a new firmware using a stock firmware. Even though the iPad baseband cannot be upgraded, trying to install a factory firmware may screw up the baseband.

If you have already tried updating to iOS5 stock firmware on your phone with 06.15.00 you will probably have to reinstall the iPad baseband. For those who updated with …

pwned

Last night we released a tutorial for upgrading to iOS5 preserving baseband. Below you can see his video for restoring a custom iOS5 IPSW created with Redsn0w 0.9.9b5

If you are an unlocker and you wish to update to iOS5, now you can, thanks to the iPhone-Dev team and Redsn0w 0.9.9b5. This new version of Redsn0w contains a new option(taken right from Pwnage Tool) which allows you to create a custom IPSW file to restore that will allow you to update to iOS5 while retaining your unlockable baseband. How to jailbreak iOS5 with Redsn0w 0.9.9b5

With today’s official iOS5 release, redsn0w has been updated to 0.9.9b5 to include the public URLs for the IPSW files.  This way, first-time iOS5 jailbreakers don’t need to supply the IPSW file manually.  It’s still a tethered jailbreak on all except the old-bootrom iPhone3GS, and it doesn’t

How To Fix “The iPhone “iPhone” could not be restored. An internal error occurred” [iOS 5 Update Problems]

iOS 5 has just been released earlier today, with some great new features included in the new firmware, millions of iPhone users are trying to update their device. This is causing huge amounts of error for people.

Many users are experiencing an “internal error” or a 3002 or 3200 error. This is due to the high volumes of users currently trying to update.
