GREAT video…helped me tremendously. One problem. When you install winterboard, you kinda mislead us. You say to put phone in DFU mode when i think you should say, “reboot from redsno.” I simply checked the DFU option and wondered why i had only black screen…then ended up with apple symbol locked on there…i’m fixed now…but i just wanted to let ya know that if you explained to check that reboot option instead, it would’ve helped…

Glad you got it figured out, I didn’t mislead you though you simply misunderstood me. I said to put the actual phone into DFU mode not to select the “Pwned-DFU mode” option.

No worries Jae. Is there anyway to 1. get ibooks working? (it hasn’t worked since i jailbroke) and 2. get better battery life? Also, if i want to restore to un jailbroken to sell when iPhone 5 comes out, how do i do that?

    Thanks,
    Tommy

      1. I’m not sure, I don’t use iBooks but I did some research and it appears that there is a Cydia package called “iBooks Fix” from the repo http://repo.insanelyi.com so you might want to try that.

      2. You can just hit “restore” in iTunes and it will reset your phone to factory settings. I would leave it jailbroken though, you can usually get $30-$50 more for a pre-jailbroken phone. :)

Just an FYI for Verizon iPhone folks: iBooks will NO LONGER WORK if you do this jailbreak…there currently is not a fix…and it looks like there won’t be a fix…

I wish I’d known this before I jailbroke so i thought i’d put it on here…

Jae I have a problem. My iphone 4 (Verizon) was jailbroken this morning. After the jailbreak, Cydia would not work for some reason. So I decided I would remove the jailbreak and try it again. I went through restore through iTunes and once it shut the iphone down, upon reboot it goes to a black screen and stays there. So then I decided I would just do the DFU reboot thing through redsn0w like you said to do if the iphone has been shut off. Well I do that and I get as far as the picture of the pineapple where it says “Jailbreaking Filesystem” and it freezes there. I’ve left it for I don’t know how long and it just stays there. I for some reason can’t get back into my iphone and I’m kind of freaking out. Lol. Any thoughts?

  • Edwin

Hey dude you are friken awsome i thout this wasnt gonna work in the end because i always try all the ones out there on youtube and they never work it leaves my iPhone 4 on the apple logo stuck nd i end up restoring it all the time and it takes about an hour to do all that process nd now i did this one nd i had my fingers crossed and it worked so im like friken happy now i got my native tethering on and dont have to pay verizon $20 bucks

  • Edwin

i will make sure to spread the word of this to all other verizon iPhone 4.2.10 users and get you some popularity thanks again

    Jae,
U know if there is a tweak that lets us disable “accessory mode” when we hook up iPhone to car stereo, etc. via 30 pin connector?

It’s funny you should mention that, my friend has an Audi Q7 and he was asking me the same thing. I suggested he try the sbsettings “ipod widget” and he said that worked for him. Let me know how it goes.

  • pastortommy

The iPod widget does not work for me…it forces me to have to use the head unit…so i can’t listen to pandora, mog, youtube, nothing…i can only listen to ipod app and it must b controlled by the head unit…any tweaks to disable that accessory mode?
