Working Tethered 4.2.10 Jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.8b7a [Tutorial]
*UPDATE* MuscleNerd has released 0.9.8b7a which truly fixes the tethered 4.2.10 jailbreak
Step 1: Restore to 4.2.10 and download the ipsw file below:
Download 4.2.10 for Verizon iPhone4
Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b7a for Windows
Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b7a for Mac
Step 2: Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b7a for Windows or Mac.
Step 3: Now start Redsn0w, browse for the iOS 4.2.10 firmware file that you downloaded in Step 1. NOTICE: If you use Internet Explorer, first of all, download a new browser becuase IE is terrible
Secondly, IE will save an IPSW file as a ZIP file which will not be recognized by Redsn0w. If you use IE you must FIRST rename your firmware file and change the extension to .IPSW instead of .ZIP.

Step 4: Once Redsn0w is done recognizing the firmware file, click Next and there you’ll be taken to a new window. Simply check the “Install Cydia” box as shown below and leave other options as it is for now. Once done, click Next.

Step 5: On this screen, Redsn0w will instruct you to power down your device and plug it in to your computer. Follow the onscreen instructions and then click Next to continue.

Step 6: On this screen you will have to put your device in DFU mode. Just follow the instructions on the redsn0w program.
- Hold down the home and power button at the same time for 10 seconds.
- Release the power button but continue holding home for another 10 seconds.
- If you did it correctly, Redsn0w will detect your phone in DFU mode and begin exploiting.
If you performed the above mentioned steps correctly, then your device should be in DFU mode.

Step 7: Redsn0w will now install cydia on your iPhone. Once it is done and reboots you will notice that your Cydia icon is blank and doesn't open. That is because this is a TETHERED jailbreak. Every time you reboot your phone you must follow the next step:
Step 8: If you left Redsn0w open just hit "back" otherwise reopen Redsn0w and on the options screen check the box that says "just boot tethered now" and nothing else and then click next. Again, put your device into DFU mode(you DO NOT have to turn your phone off to enter DFU mode. Just do the same sequence of holding home and power again, it will work at the apple logo). and allow Redsn0w to boot your iPhone up. Remember, you must do this every time you reboot.

That’s it! You should now have a jailbroken iPhone4 on 4.2.10!
