How to Check Which SHSH you Have Saved with TinyUmbrella

I just wanted to do a quick write-up on how to to see what you have . Many times when people upgrade their firmware to a firmware that does not have an untethered jailbreak available they want to .

Unfortunately, more times than not, this person will not even know what an SHSH is or if they do know what it is, they won't know how to save it or how to check if they already have it saved.

The first thing you want to do is download the latest TinyUmbrella from The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella Next you want to open TinyUmbrella and go to the "Advanced" tab and check the box that says "Request SHSH from "

Now that you've done that, connect your device if it's not already connected. You will see the device listed in the left-hand pane. Highlight it and then click the "Save SHSH button"

Now go back to the "General" tab and you will see a list of all the available SHSHs you have saved for that particular device. Using the TSS Server that is built in to TinyUmbrella you can bypass iTunes verification servers and downgrade to any firmware for which you have the SHSH saved.

*IMPORTANT* After doing this, make sure to go back to the "Advanced" tab and uncheck the "Request SHSH from Cydia" box. If you don't do this, TinyUmbrella will not save future SHSH keys when you click "Save SHSH."

Would it be fair to say that since I updated my new phone to 4.2.10 almost immediately after purchase that the SHSH blob will not be saved or should I try to use tiny umbrella to do a check before i assume that downgrading is not possible for me? Considering downgrading to 4.2.8.

Correct, if you updated to 4.2.10 without first using TinyUmbrella to save your SHSH and you have neve been jailbroken in the past then it is fair to say that you do not have it.

Ok then I will simply wait for a jailbreak for ios5 when it comes out. If Jailbreak Me 3.0 won’t provide the service any more what would be a good site to follow once ios5 comes out so that I can do properly do a jailbreak *before* apple tries to issue a firmware upgrade? Btw, you have been so incredibly helpful. Thank you.

You’re welcome, you can just follow this site, we will report when iOS5 has been jailbroken and what tool to use. Nobody knows what tool will be used, it may even be a completely new tool, we won’t know until iOS5 is released and the devs update us

    • JaeM1llz

Correct, you can only downgrade to firmware that you have the SHSH for.

Now my phone firmware is 4.3.5 and when i check the shsh its showing me 4.2.1 and 4.3.3 and 4.3.5 so it means i can downgrade my 4.3.5 to 4.2.1 or 4.3.3 ???
