Comex has been hired by Apple as an intern
Well, this week has been a crazy one for Apple to say the least. First the unexpected and abrupt resignation of Steve Jobs and now @comex has announced, via Twitter, that he wil begin an internship with Apple in two weeks. Of course, this was to be expected. Obviously, the best candidate for a job finding security holes is a person who has been finding them as a hobby for years now.
Of course, this is a double-edged sword. On one hand, I am happy for Comex for getting an internship with Apple, he really deserves it. On the …

Steve Jobs Resigns As Apple CEO
In a month many had predicted to be dominated by news about the iPhone 5 and OS X Lion, Apple’s board of directors has unexpectedly announced that Steve Jobs has stepped down from Apple as CEO and will be replaced by Tim Cook, Apple’s current COO. Meanwhile, Jobs will be the chairman of the board.
This announcement dropped like a bombshell today and rippled through both the markets and devoted Apple followers who are now left wondering what’s next for Apple. In a press release, the Cupertino company doesn’t state a reason for Jobs’ sudden decision to depart, although we …
Sprint to begin selling iPhone5 in mid-October
For the first few years after the release of the first iPhone, AT&T was the only official carrier in America. Now that Verizon has become the frist CDMA carrier to offer the iPhone, we knew it wouldn’t be long until Sprint hopped on the bandwagon. Reliable sources have announced that Sprint will begin carrying the iPhone5 in mid-october.
Sprint Nextel Corp. will begin selling the new version of the Apple iPhone in mid-October, people familiar with the matter said, filling a huge hole in the No. 3 U.S. carrier’s lineup and giving Apple Inc. another sales channel for its popular …
IntelliID Upcoming CallerID Cydia Package Fetches Callers Names from Database
Intelliborn, the popular jailbreak developer company who has brought us such Cydia apps as MyWi, My3G and Elert among many others has been developing a great new application that is set to hit the Cydia store right around the release of iOS5. IntelliID is a CallerID application that will fetch a caller’s name immediately upon them calling. The application will pull names both for landlines and mobile phones. Never again will you have to wonder who is calling you from that unknown number.
IntelliID pulls names from a US/Canada calling database. Because of this it seems as though it will …
Apple Credits comex with the Saffron exploit used in JailbreakMe
@comex has now been officially credited for discovering the IOMobileFrameBuffer vulnerability that has come to be known as “Saffron” which he used in the popular and extremely user-friendly JailbreakMe 3.0. Apple details the exploit and the ability to gain system access using this exploit on their support page that outlines the changes in iOS 4.3.4.
Apple rarely ever even acknowledges the jailbreak scene. They refuse service on jailbroken devices and quietly combat the exploits that hackers use to create jailbreaks but it isn’t often that they publicly acknowledge anyone specific in the scene.
It’s good to see credit …
How to Check Which SHSH you Have Saved with TinyUmbrella
I just wanted to do a quick write-up on how to check TinyUmbrella to see what SHSH you have saved. Many times when people upgrade their firmware to a firmware that does not have an untethered jailbreak available they want to downgrade.
Unfortunately, more times than not, this person will not even know what an SHSH is or if they do know what it is, they won’t know how to save it or how to check if they already have it saved.
The first thing you want to do is download the latest TinyUmbrella from The Firmware Umbrella – TinyUmbrella…
