Apple Releases iOS5 Beta 4 to Developers Update Available OTA

Today, Apple has released the 4th beta version of iOS5 to Apple Developers. This new version brings some bugfixes as well as some new additions. Most notably, Beta 4 is the first iOS5 firmware to be available over the air(OTA). If you are on any previous beta version of iOS5 you can download the new beta over the air without the use of a computer or iTunes!

You will find a "Software Updates" tab in the "General" section of the settings application which will allow you to download the firmware directly to your device using your wi-fi or 3G connection.

Some users have been reporting errors when trying to update OTA, it worked fine for me but if for some reason you get an error, just download and install it with iTunes like you normally would. Below are some of the features in the new beta:

  • The aforementioned OTA installation support
  • Video content in all applications and websites should now be AirPlay-enabled by default
  • Wireless syncing now works with Windows
