Apple Blocks Gevey SIM Unlock in iOS5 Beta 2

    Earlier this week, we told you about a new version of the Gevey SIM interposer unlock called the Gevey Ultra SIM. Last night, Apple released iOS5 beta 2 to iOS developers and it has become apparent that they have blocked the hardware unlock in the new revision of the iOS5 firmware. It is a little strange that Apple decided to block the unlock in a beta version of the firmware instead of waiting until the final release. It is likely that Gevey will be able to update the unlock process and bypass the new restrictions by the time that iOS5 is officially released.

    So if you require the Gevey SIM unlock to use your unofficial carrier, make sure to stay away from iOS5 beta 2. The unlock still works on all firmware revisions prior to beta 2.
