RecognizeMe Upcoming Cydia Tweak to add Facial Recognition Unlock
If you’re pretty fed up with using Apple’s stock ‘Slide to Unlock’ or 4-digit password combinations to gain access to your iPhone and fancy something a little more … Minority Report, take a look at this next one.
It’s a Cydia tweak dubbed ‘RecognizeMe’ and while not yet available, it should be arriving on the store soon. In short, RecognizeMe is biometric facial recognition for your iPhone. No, really. This is no “for entertainment purposes only” gig, it’s the real thing from what we can tell.
RecognizeMe is the first Facial Recognition security for the iPhone. Although not perfect, RecognizeMe does a pretty good job at facial recognition, given optimal conditions. RecognizeMe sits on the iPhone passcode screen, so it serves as an alternate to, rather than a replacement for the passcode.
Applying the mod will display the option to unlock your iPhone with your face simply by tapping the lockscreen region it creates in the top right. Once you do, RecognizeMe will scan and analyze every part of your face to ensure you are you. If it figures your face is worthy, your iPhone will simply fly open.
Isn’t this perhaps the most awesome thing you’ve ever seen?
We’re hearing RecognizeMe will be available in Cydia soon, with a price tag of $6.99 – (for a limited time).
