iOS 4.3.3 and 4.2.8 released jailbreak exploit remains unpatched
Today Apple has released the iOS 4.3.3 firmware update as well as 4.2.8 for Verizon CDMA iPhone4 customers. Early reports from @comex show that @i0n1c‘s untether exploit is still unpatched so there will be an untethered jailbreak released soon for both firmwares. The main reason for these updates was to patch the location tracking issue that has been coming up a lot over the past month.
For the time being, there is no jailbreak for either of these firmwares, so even though the exploit has not been patched, we advise jailbreakers/unlockers to refrain from updating until the …

Infini-Dev Team Working on Lima a Browser Based Cydia Alternative
Those who are like me, appreciate competition in any sort of market. I was deeply disappointed at the news of Saurik(creator of Cydia) acquiring Rock last year which was the only viable alternative to Cydia at the time. I was even more disappointed to find that Saurik had no immediate plans of incorporating the features of Rock that I preferred over Cydia into his application.
Luckily for us, the Inifini-Dev team is trying to bring some competition back to the 3rd party app store scene. The creators of Icy, another Cydia alternative, are working on a new version of Icy …

Apple Begins Widespread Testing Of iOS 5, Public Developer Preview Build Coming Soon?
iOS 5 is expected to bring with it some juicy new features, not least a new notification system and application developers are starting to see the next iOS version show up in the stats they receive from Apple. Proof the company is ramping up testing, perhaps?
The photo from 9to5Mac shows the OS is being tested on all kinds of devices including iPods, iPads and iPhones of all versions including the iPhone 3GS (not shown in the picture). It was assumed the ageing 3GS would be left out of future major iOS releases but apparently Apple are at least testing …
p0sixninja and GeoHot decide on a friendly iPad2 jailbreaking competition
Over the past few weeks, @p0sixninja, of the Chronic Dev Team, has been making a few references to the work he has been doing trying to jailbreak the iPad2. Last week he posted that his work on the iPad2 was one of the slowest jailbreaks ever and that he missed GeoHot. Last night, he announced that he had challenged GeoHot to a friendly competition to see who could dump the iPad2 bootrom first, which is the first step in developing a jailbreak.
Shortly after the announcement, another announcement was made that GeoHot had accepted the challenge and although …
