d0nfyxn iPad2 jailbreak is fake do not use it

    As a general rule of thumb, you should never trust anyone who says they have a jailbreak or unlock tool that nobody else has. Any qualified iDevice hackers will be supported by the dev-team. Recently @d0nfyxn released a few fake videos on YouTube claiming that he had successfully jailbroken his iPad2. The videos were quickly discredited as it was clear by the iPad time in the video that he was pausing the video and swapping in a jailbroken first-generation iPad to make it appear as though he had jailbroken the iPad2.

    This didn't stop him however and he went on to release a fake tool A5-2Lib02. Obviously the tool doesn't work since there are no working exploits for the iPad2 at this time.

    At this point in time, the file appears to be harmless, although we would strongly advise against running any execution file if you are not sure that it is legit. Here is what @MuscleNerd had to say:

      Ok this is is a fake. So is there any truth to reports:

      “According to Veeence, who’s been  a reliable (make that very reliable) source in the past when it comes to jailbreak news, it seems that the iPad 2 jailbreak may be coming around. Though it may not be as soon as we’d all hope.

      Here’s what he said in a recent tweet:

      “Apparently an A5 (iPad2) jailbreak is almost developed. There’s no release plan tho. What you get when security researchers investigate…”

      He also adds the following:

      “Very likely userland.”

      There is no truth to anything regarding an iPad2 jailbreak. Veeence has openly stated that he does not, and has never claimed to have had, an iPad2 jailbreak. MuscleNerd has stated that to date the only iPad2 jailbreak to ever exist is the one that was developed by Comex from the first week after the iPad2 was released.

        Because the exploit only worked on the 4.3 firmware, Apple patched it in 4.3.1 and since most iPad2 users have 4.3.1 or higher, it was decided to not waste time packaging a jailbreak tool for it

      So comex’s jailbreak would work for my iPad 2 because it’s on 4.3 (8F191)? Is there anything I can do or do I just have to wait???

        You have to wait because he never packaged the exploit into a tool.
