MuscleNerd clears the air on some GP RC5 issues
So after I got done creating the Greenpois0n RC5 tutorial, it was apparent that there were some issues with the process(which is to be expected this soon after the release). First of all, many people have been wondering if they can just use GreenPois0n over the top of a tethered 4.2.1 jailbreak so they don't have to restore. @MuscleNerd has confirmed that it is indeed safe to run GreenPois0n over the top of a tethered jailbreak to untether it. However, please do not use the "Loader" app afterwards as this will overwrite Cydia. You can just delete that app immediately. If you've used the "monte" option to untether, you MUST restore before using GreenPois0n RC5.
Also, I realized that I was not able to download Cydia after jailbreaking with GreenPois0n due to the large volume of users all trying to download it at the same time. In the tutorial I posted a possible solution where you would edit the hosts file on your phone to redirect the download from somewhere else. However, this did not work for me either. Fortunately, @MuscleNerd has also announced that for those of us who cannot download Cydia through the Loader app, we can just use RedSn0w to install Cydia. However, please do not use the "monte" option.
So there you have it, that should clear up some of your questions. Still no word on the release of the Windows or Linux version and the Greenpois0n website is actually down right now. We will let you know when we hear something.
