Animate tutorial install custom animated bootlogos for Greenpois0n RC5 jailbreaks
Earlier today we talked about the new Cydia application "Animate" which allows you to change the animated boot logo that shows up after jailbreaking with Greenpois0n RC5. Unfortunately, since this application just came out, there are a few bugs. The first bug, pretty major, is that you cannot search for this application in Cydia. You have to search for "Apple Boot Logo" which has "animate" as a dependency so when you install the Apple Boot Logo the application will be installed as well.
The next problem is that whoever uploaded the Apple Boot Logo package has it set to install to the wrong directory, so if you install the app and enable the Apple Boot Logo you wont see an animated logo at all, you will just see the standard Apple logo when you boot. Customized boot logos are generated from a series of PNG files(it may support other formats we don't know yet). Place your series of PNG files into a folder and then put that folder into the /Library/BootLogos folder on your iDevice.
We have created a custom iPhoneBlogr.com boot logo for those of you who wish to support our site. The downside about this is that the animation is pretty choppy and there seems to be a limit to how many colors you can use since the logo I created is discolored.
DOWNLOAD:
Click here to download our animated Boot Logo, then extract the folder to /Library/BootLogos so it would be /Library/BootLogos/iPhoneBlogr with all the PNGs in the iPhoneBlogr folder. When you reboot you should now see our custom logo.
Here is a new one I've created, this one uses 7 frames and a gray scale, the bootlogo appears much smoother using this one. Click the image for the download:
