Verizon iPhone 4 is here! Heres what you need to know
As was expected, in an event held in the New York City, Verizon Wireless’ President & COO Lowell McAdam has announced the much anticipated arrival of Apple iPhone on Verizon’s network.
As we showed at CES last week, we’re building on these partnerships with LTE — it will make broadband even richer for customers. That’s including a whole new range of smartphones and tablets. One analyst said ‘we displayed an armada of new devices.
Today we’re partnering with a giant of the industry, and that’s Apple.
Later, Apple’s COO Tim Cook also joined him on stage to announce the …

Official announcement is as follows:
Update #6: The sixth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version fixes Skype (and as expected all along, the Skype issue turns out to be unrelated to sandbox patches). Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (the links won’t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in).
Unlike the last few betas, you can freely run beta6 over beta5 without …
MyWi updated to 4.12 finally gets addition of Bluetooth Tethering
Some of you may remember all the way back in August we reviewed a new tethering application available in the Cydia store, TetherMe. Not only is TetherMe capable of internet tethering via Bluetooth and enabling tethering through settings instead of an application, it is also 90% cheaper.
MyWi has finally made the update to include Bluetooth tethering in their application. The one major advantage that MyWi has over TetherMe is that it has wi-fi tethering so you can use your phone as a hotspot that multiple people or devices can connect to wirelessly whereas TetherMe can only tether to …

Mac OSX
The fifth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Bluetooth is now working (and any sandbox-related issues should be resolved too). Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW.
There is actually a Windows version of beta5, but it’s excruciatingly slow compared to the Mac version because it’s forced to use files on your hard drive instead of RAM while it’s processing the very large IPSW images. It …
App Review: iTimeLapse Pro [App Store] – How to take timelapse videos from iPhone/iPod Touch
iTimeLapse is a great application for the iPhone, and iPod Touch. It is available from the Apple App Store for $.99. In my opinion, well worth the small fee! Create stunning time lapse videos straight from your phone! Finally, you can make and share Time Lapse videos like the pro’s without having to sync to your computer. It’s so easy, anyone can do it… be an artist! iTimeLapse allows you to capture a series of images rapidly and then compile them into a video. iTimeLapse lets you create as many sessions as you want, adding images to them at any …
VLC Player Application finally pulled from the iTunes App Store
The ever popular VLC Player application from the iTunes App Store, which allows users to playback video that is not natively supported by the iPhone, has finally been pulled from the iTunes App Store. Apple had received a formal letter from the developers of VLC(the computer version) about copyright infringements.
The infringement is actually more of just a snag in the way that iTunes operates. iTunes does not allow the installation of an application(free or paid) by a user on more than 5 devices. This goes against the original GNU license VLC’s code is based on. According to the developers …

Verizon set to release the CDMA iPhone4 on February 3rd? Employee vacation time blocked
BGR has confirmed with a source close to Apple that the company has blacked out employee vacation requests between February 3rd and February 6th — Thursday through Sunday. The four-day vacation freeze has been confirmed to be in effect in several regions in the United States. A recent report suggested the vacation black-out would cover a period of three weeks beginning in late January and extending into February, which still could be true in some regions.
Back in June of last year, Apple picked the dates of 24th to the 27th for its iPhone 4 weekend launch — also a …
Fix for iPhones that cannot receive calls on the Edge network Unlocked or Locked
This is just a quick post for a problem that one of our readers, iBrandon, was having on his unlocked 3G iPhone. For the past few months he has not been able to receive calls on his iPhone 3G while connected to the edge network. Because of this he was forced to switch off the Edge network via SBsettings. I randomly had the idea that it was possibly something with his phone number setting. Sure enough in the “My Number” section of settings>phone his number was listed without a + in front of the country code. Your number SHOULD look …

Tomorrow, Apple is set to launch the Mac version of the App store. The expected time is 12pm Eastern Standard Time. There has been confirmation of a twitter application, Tweetie, being launched alongside the Mac store as you can see in the screenshot below from RazorianFly.com
It is unknown at this point what other apps will be available upon the launch of the Mac App Store, but it will likely be a lot of Mac versions of iPhone and iPad applications. It will be interesting to see if popular iPhone/iPad applications will do just as well on Macs as they …
Possible pictures of the Verizon iPhone or iPhone5 housing leaked? With Video
This morning pictures began making their rounds on the various iPhone websites of an iPhone casing that is thought to be the iPhone5 casing. Personally, I don’t think Apple will make iPhone5 look so similar to the iPhone4 so I believe that these pictures are more likely pictures of either the Verizon iPhone or a newer model of the iPhone4. There has been speculation that the CDMA version of the iPhone4 will still include a SIM card slot so that the phone can be used on GSM or CDMA, so it is quite possible that this is the housing for …
