Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 released removes USBMuxd for Untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak with tutorial
As we reported yesterday the new version of redsn0w 0.9.7b4 removes the requirement of USBMuxd for the untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak. Of course this release of Redsn0w is still only for OSX. Stay tuned for word on the Windows release.

Today the iPhone Dev Team has announced that the next version of Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will be released today and will allow users to have an untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak without the need of usbmuxd. The iPhone developer and hacker @iH8sn0w has just teased a screenshot of Sn0wbreeze 2.2 with a new “Baseband Preservation Mode”. Redsn0w 0.9.7b3 released! Fixes last of app issues
The iPhone Dev-Team have just released beta3 of Redsn0w 0.9.7.
The third beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version extends the fix made in beta2 over to the non-GUI programs too (like the daemons that handle media content). That should cover things like Facetime, Winterboard themes, and embedded videos in iTunes. Redsn0w 0.9.7b2 Released – Fixes All Native App Crashes
Redsn0w 0.9.7b2 has just been released, with the release of the previous version (earlier today), Redsn0w 0.9.7b1, came an untehtered jailbreak but there were native app crashes also the Task Switcher, iPod and YouTube apps were unusable. With the latest release of Redsn0w 0.9.7b2, all these problems have been fixes. Bluetooth functionality though is still disabled.
This version should fix all the native app crashes (including Task switcher). That’s the only change in from beta1….Bluetooth is still disabled.

Redsn0w 0.9.7b3 tutorial untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak
First of all, this is the ‘backup plan’ beta release, which means it’s rough around the edges, and things can go sporadically or randomly wonky. Second of all, even if everything were smooth sailing, there’s still a process involved — unlike Comex’s upcoming hack, which will reportedly allow for easy, one-touch jailbreaking.
