TinyUmbrella May Still Provide Baseband Protection For iPhone 4 Users Updating To iOS 4.2.1 [unconfirmed]

Earlier we posted that TinyUmbrella allows you to upgrade your iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 without upgrading your baseband. It looks as though this may still be the case for iOS 4.2.1.

Tweets from Notcom throughout today have said that he has not confirmed this but he sees no reason really to suspect it wouldn’t work exactly like the 4.1 TU bb protection.

If you DO NOT require an unlock and would like to confirm this for us, please follow the same tutorial as before, here, only this time, update to iOS 4.2.1. Take a screen shot in the …

Official Announcement From iPhone Dev Team Regarding iOS 4.2.1 – What does this mean for me and my device?

With Turkey Day a few days off, today Apple publicly released FW version 4.2.1.  As always, ultrasn0w unlockers please stay far far away from this official firmware (and all official firmware).  Wait for the ability to create custom 4.2.1. Redsn0w 0.9.6b3 to jailbreak 4.2.1

Unlockers should avoid using redsn0w to jailbreak as it will update their baseband. When 4.2.1 is …

Free MobileMe service to be included in 4.2?

Earlier in November, Apple released a golden master of iOS 4.2. Within the beta, it was discovered that the MobileMe settings now asked for Apple ID account info, rather than MobileMe account info. Apple has since released two more golden masters of iOS 4.2, including one build labeled iOS 4.2.1.

On Friday, MacRumors uncovered in the latest iOS 4.2 betas a “new private framework” with error messages referencing free MobileMe accounts. The errors include: “The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone” and “This iPad is not qualified for free MobileMe service.” Though Apple currently …
