New Tiny Umbrella Supports iOS 4.1 Without Upgrading Baseband [Tutorial] – Update To iOS 4.1 Without Updating Your Baseband Tutorial
UPDATE: An updated version of TinyUmbrella, version 4.1.11, has been released, the tutorial has been updated accordingly.
TinyUmbrealla 4.1.11 has been released (which along with previous versions) allows you to upgrade your iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 without upgrading your baseband as seen in the picture below. Please note, this tutorial only works for iPhone 4 and not iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G!
Step 1: Download the latest version of TinyUmbrella from here. Or click on the following links (latest versions at time of post).
Step 2: Download and run TinyUmbrella
Step 3: Hit "Start TSS Server"
Step 4: Open iTunes and plug your device in
Step 5: Hit Restore (NOT UPDATE). This will require you to download the iOS 4.1 firmware file.
Step 6: Let iTunes complete it's process. Somewhere through the process iTunes will through a sad and display an 'Unknown error occurred (1004)'. This is normal, don't worry about it. Error 1004 is a baseband error (good thing!).
Step 7: Go back to TinyUmbrella that is still open and hit 'Kick out of recovery'
Step 8: Congratulations! You are not on iOS 4.1 with baseband 01.59.00! You can now follow one of these tutorials to jailbreak using Greenpois0n or Limera1n, and then unlock using Ultrasn0w!
