Greenpois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Only Days Away!

    UPDATE 1: Just in case there were any doubts as to the validity of pod2g's earlier announcement, it has now been confirmed by p0sixninja as well. Apparently pod2g is still working along side the Chronic Dev team despite his recent departure from the team.

    Hi guys, well unless you've been living under some kind of rock, you will have heard about the SHAtter exploit discovered by the Chronic Dev team and also being worked on by the iPhone Dev Team. A tool named Greenpois0n is going to use the SHAtter exploit to pwn all iDevices for life.

    Anyway, the new news! On Twitter a user named 'asendari' asked pod2g (the person who discovered the exploit) whether the release date would be in weeks or days. Pod2g reply suggests it will only be days away.

    So there we have it, although this doesn't confirm the jailbreak will be here straight away it does help to have a rough time frame.Greenpois0n is closer than every! For now, stay patient, i'm sure the teams are working as hard as possible!

        yeah man i just hope they release this soon &+ i have a question how would i go about saving my shsh from cydia im on an iphone 3g running 4.0 but i want too upgrade once greenpois0n comes out but i rely on an unlock

          stopsuxkinme, you can just use TinyUmbrella to store your SHSH blob locally and it will automatically mirror a copy of your blob to Saurik’s server for you. That way you will always have a local copy and an internet copy. However you can only upgrade to 4.1 without upgrading your baseband on iPhone4 or iTouch 4G for now, you will not be able to do it on your 3G, hope this helps!

      This is great news. Thanks for the diligent work all.

      I have what may be a simple question and I’m very noob at this. I got and jailbroke and unlocked a 3G the other day. Then stupidly did an erase and restore (no blobs saved) Now the phone is frozen and seemingly the only way to unfreeze will be to restore with itunes which threatens to add the newest iPhone software to my phone. That says to me iOs4.1, correct? Greenpois0n will remedy that (i think?) and I’ll be able to JB the phone again, but what about the unlock? I’ve heard that updating to newest software will change my “baseline” or something like that and I’ll lose the unlock that I did the other day. Is this true? Is it then possible to re-unlock it using Ultrasn0w or some other unlock software?

      I tried messing around with Tiny Umbrella to retain the baseline but didn’t get very far since I kept getting thrown out of it and/or asked to restore but was unable to.

      Thanks in advance and any step by step solutions would be very much appreciated.

        Kai, you can do a shift+restore of a custom prejailbroken 4.1 firmware using sn0wbreeze, however the option to upgrade to 4.1 without upgrading your baseband is only available to iPhone4 and iPT 4G

          Thanks JaeM1IIz. That sounds promising. I’m assuming shift+restore is the same as option+restore? Would my 3g count as a custom jailbroken 4.1 candidate? Is there a tutorial for such a process? And what about the unlock from ATT to T-MObile? Will I still have it or be able to do it again? I don’t even know what baseband is so I’m not sure what BB I have on my phone and have no way to turn it on to find out.

      @ jaem1llz – ok but i downloaded tiny umbrella and wen i go to save my shsh it doesnt pull up my phone and firmware i tryed that with several different versions of tinyumbrella but the problem is i cant update my mac g4 from tiger to another version so i cant download most apps i really need do you know any easier way to do anything about my situation “/ it really sucks because im always tryin to find an alternate way to do things

        Can’t you dual-boot Windows using Bootcamp? Anyway, to back up your SHSH blob in Cydia you click the “make my life easier” button and it will automatically backup your SHSH blob every time you open Cydia and there is a new blob that is being signed. However, right now you’ll only be able to backup your 4.1 blob since it’s the only one being signed right now, which is a good idea but there’s no rush since 4.2 won’t be out for a little while

          i dont have a windows i have a mac g4 running tiger 10.4.11 and i dont have the disk to download a new version like mac leopard so i cant download redsn0w 0.96beta1 or any of the other redsn0w softwares that came out so now im just stuck with mac running tiger 10.4.11 i changed the about this mac info to see if i can trick the apps to think i updated my mac but no luck =[

            I know, I’m saying install Windows on your Mac with bootcamp and then use TinyUmbrella for Windows

              hows that possible ?? &+ would i ever be able to go back to mac ? do you have like an aol screenname i can contact you at so we can try to speed up the process of me getting my computer &+ all the other things i can download because this is really fustrating i cant doo the things i use to b able to on my windows it crashed and caught a virus so booo whoo to me =[ lol

              Dual-Booting means you would have both Windows and Mac at the same time, you choose which OS to boot into on startup. I’m studying for a Psych test right now so I can’t help you but there are thousands of tutorials on Google on how to do it. Just search for “dual boot windows bootcamp” and you’ll find a bunch.

      yeah im doing that now but i dont think i can download bootcamp on mac osx tiger because it only came out for mac osx leopard and i dont have a windows xp cd to download windows on my mac =[ i mean my neighbor has a macbook laptop and has the leopard disc but it wont work for my g4 because im guessing i need a cd for my specific mac

        You can definitely use bootcamp on Tiger cause I’ve installed it on my friends installation of Tiger, it’s only officially supported on Snow Leopard but it will work on Tiger.

        Also, you don’t need a disc specific to your Mac, any upgrade disc or retail disc should allow you to upgrade to Leopard.

          really ? if so how do i update it with the leopard disk ? because i called the apple service and they told me different or is it they try to make me spend more money then what i was suppose to spend ?

            Like I said, they only support Leopard so they’re not going to give you support using Tiger. You’ll have to do it by reading tutorials online, I think you have to download the latest beta and set your calendar back a few years or something to trick it into thinking it hasn’t expired

      Hey.

      I have iPod touch 3G, bought it a few days ago, and it has iOS 4.0.2. I saw that in order to jailbreak it, I have to either downgrade it or wait for the new jb. First option is possible only if I have SHSH blobs, but dude from who I bought the iPod had no idea what that is :) However, I tried today to get them with TinyUmbrella and after querying Cydia I got blobs for 4.0 and 4.0.2. But I’m still not sure do I want to risk.

      So, that brings me to my question :) This new jailbreak will work only on 4.1? Should I update now to iOS 4.1 and wait for the jb or leave it as it is and then update if required to 4.1? And, if I should upgrade now, do I have to save those blobs? (I already did that, and I have some files in my user direcory/.shsh, eg xxxx-ipt-3g-4.1.shsh)

      Just wondering when an unlock will be available for my iphone 4? it’s running ios4.1 and has the updated baseline (so can’t use ultrasnow).

        I don’t believe an unlock for the newest baseband is even in development yet, all the hackers have been working on the 4.1 jailbreak. Last I heard the most progress they had made was they found a way to crash the baseband which is just the very first step in creating an exploit, so it probably wont be for a while.
