New Cydia app NoSpot disables spotlight search completely
So a while ago, we post about how disabling spotlight search can drastically increase the speed at which the iPhone 3g operates using the ios4 firmware. Now there is a Cydia app that has been developed that will completely disable the spotlight search altogether instead of having to go into settings and disable only certain parts of spotlight search.
Until Apple comes up with an official fix for the speed at which the 3g handles iOS4, this is a great …
App Review: Synchronicity [Cydia Store] Sync your device in the background
Rating:
There is a great new Cydia app that just came out that is something I have been waiting for, for a long time. How many of you can’t stand when you are syncing your phone and it’s taking forever and then someone calls you and it stops syncing or there’s something you have to do RIGHT NOW on your device but don’t want to cancel the sync. Enter Synchronicity. This app will in essence background your iTunes syncing so …

No jailbreak for 4.0.2 or 3.2.2
So as most of us would imagine, the iPhone Dev-Team has officially announced that there will not be a jailbreak for the minor 4.0.2/3.2.2 firmware updates. The only thing that these two firmwares change is the security hole that allows the jailbreakme.com exploit to work. If the team were to release another jailbreak for this minor update it would expose one more security hole to Apple and would essentially be a waste. Hopefully those of you who were hoping to …
Apple stops signing 4.0.1 firmware
Well, it took them a while, but Apple has finally stopped signing the 4.0.1 firmware, meaning that at this point if you are on 4.0.2 and you do not have your SHSH for 4.0.1 stored you will no longer have the ability to jailbreak or unlock your phone(for now). I hope everyone got their blobs backed up before it was too late!…
Downgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1 without SHSH?
*UPDATE2* Apple has finally stopped signing the 4.0.1 firmware so this method will no longer work.
*UPDATE* This has been confirmed as working!!
So I haven’t yet confirmed this myself, but I have heard multiple success stories on IRC and on forums around the web. Apparently you can downgrade from a 4.0.2 device to 4.0.1 even without an SHSH saved. Just download the firmware file you need, for iPhone 4 it would be iPhone3,1_4.0.1_8A306_Restore.ipsw and for a 3Gs it would …
Jailbreak iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.0.2 with PwnageTool [Unofficial Release]
The unofficial release of PwnageTool for jailbreaking iOS 4.0.2 is now out in the wild. It can jailbreak iPhone 3GS (with old bootrom only) using iOS 4.0.2 custom firmware. There is of course no need to update to iOS 4.0.2 if you have iOS 4.0.1 (jailbroken using JailbreakMe) and PDF Patch installed from Cydia. But in case you have updated to iOS 4.0.2 accidentally on your iPhone 3GS (with old bootrom), you can jailbreak it again using this version …
Theme Review: High Tech Rave-Up Blue
If you’re into the high-tech spy look, this theme is for you! Completely free! The theme has about 30-50 icons pre-loaded, and if you need more you can get them on the web(more info on that soon!) The theme has glowing blue icons in silver rounded boxes as seen below:
Also, the theme features several alternative icons! It also has a complete custom battery logo! The dock has also been modified to go along with the theme. It also has …
TetherMe, MyWi alternative – Cheaper and Better!
Hopefully you guys didn’t shell out the $20 for MyWi like I did already. Don’t get me wrong, MyWi is a great app and the price is equal to one month of tethering through AT&T so it’s definitely worth it. HOWEVER, a new app has recently been released that is even BETTER and it’s cheaper to boot. This app, unlike MyWi, also enables Bluetooth tethering instead of just USB tethering. Also the app installs right into the settings on your …
PDF Patch for jailbroken devices on 4.0.1 and below
So Apple may have patched the PDF security hole yesterday by releasing 4.0.2, however they neglected to release a fix for the 1G iPod Touch and the 2G iPhone. @Saurik has picked up where Apple left off and has added a new app to Cydia, PDF Patch, which patches the same security hole, but works on ALL iDevices. Now you don’t even need to create a CFW of 4.0.2 with Sn0wbreeze, you just need to download the Cydia app …
iOS 4.0.2 Released Fixes PDF Exploit
Well, Apple has now released IOS version 4.0.2 which patches the security hole in mobile safari that allowed JailbreakMe to be possible. Hopefully you all stored your 4.0.1 blobs because you will not be able to jailbreak your iDevices using 4.0.2 as of yet. For those of you who are already jailbroken DO NOT update to 4.0.2 if you really MUST update to 4.0.2 to patch the secruity hole that could allow malicious code to be run on your iDevice …
